Northrop Grumman, Space Systems is currently seeking a Program Manager 1 to support Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Programs with primary focus on the D5 Block Requalification Phase B-1 and B-2 Programs supporting the Propulsion Systems Division at our facility located in Bacchus (Magna), Utah.

This position will be 80-90% on-site with 10% travel between supporting sites and customer and supplier travel.

Overview

This position includes interface with the three-factory campus Bacchus, Promontory and Clearfield VSET’s in transitioning the materials obsolescence development phase into the full-scale qualification phase delivery to and statice test, with post-test cutup evaluation for successful completion of qualification for insertion into the continuous D5 Production program.  Additional future efforts in the strategy planning for future Block Requalification efforts to sustain the D5 Rocket motor production program with qualified replacement materials as future obsolescence efforts evolve.

This position will have responsibility for cost, schedule, technical execution and presentation in monthly reviews, quarterly reviews with additional Operating Unit stakeholders. Phase B-2 has full EVMS and IMS schedule requirements. Additionally, the candidate will be a point of contact with internal organizations and the customer with regular communication and presentations expected.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Execute development and production programs successfully by managing cost, technical, schedule and risk
  • Ensure contract compliance and execution of SSOW requirements including timely SDRL submittals
  • Oversee program planning and execution through development and fabrication phases including design release/verification concrete density development, CONOPS development, successful GFM nozzle assemblies transfer from the Government Demil program, production of concrete fill and empty FS/SS/TS rocket motors, shipment to final destination
  • Represent Northrop Grumman (NG) as a company, conveying our message to the customer; and integrating knowledge of the spectrum of NG capabilities with understanding of customer needs to promote our company and capabilities 
  • Meet company and customer requirements while balancing the multiple roles and differing requirements
  • Understanding of Proposal Process and execution from RFP and SSOW requirements, willing to push back on those not acceptable
  • Maintain close working relationships with engineering, operations, and any suppliers
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with customer and product matrixed Production Program Managers
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with local customers, while adhering to contract requirements and boundaries

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years’ experience in technical, operational, or project/program management experience supporting US government contracts or customers in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Possess general knowledge of project financial systems and reviews
  • Experience in project/program management, resource management, and strategic planning
  • Continuously drive for results
  • Ability to understand people/technical issues impacting the programs
  • Effective communications skills with the ability to provide verbal and written information clearly, succinctly, and persuasively
  • Understand problems and issues in the context of the bigger picture and understand relationships among subcomponents
  • Experience with EVMS and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) with willingness to learn and develop skills
  • Willingness/desire to develop and learn to lead through program management
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with rocket motor manufacturing processes
  • Understanding and experience with the FBM culture a plus
  • Familiarity with Propulsion Systems factory operations (Bacchus, Promontory, and Clearfield)
  • Experience managed projects (e.g.: Technical lead, CAM, PM)
  • Ownership and solution based mentality

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,900.00 - $172,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
