Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Program Director, Airport to join our team.  

This position is a replacement and is based on-site, out of Mississauga.  We are seeking professionals to join our team to help us build one of the most advanced, sustainable and passenger-friendly airports in the world. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for delivering the Airport Terminal Program in alignment with defined scope, budget, schedule, quality, and risk objectives.
  • Leads and unifies the Program Delivery team to function as a cohesive, high-performing unit.
  • Manages internal and external stakeholder relationships in collaboration with the stakeholder relations team.
  • Develops and implements the program’s governance framework and execution strategy.
  • Oversees interactions with the Executive Capital Committee, including preparation of executive briefings.
  • Manages contractor performance to ensure adherence to contractual commitments related to scope, cost, schedule, quality, and risk.
  • Coordinates with the Change Management Board on decisions and escalations related to change control.
  • Leads monthly Program Progress Reviews and reports performance metrics to the Program Delivery Director.
  • Interfaces with PMO Services and Technical Shared Services to ensure appropriate resource allocation, coordination, and integration.
  • Prepares and issues monthly progress reports and maintains performance dashboards in the PMIS.
  • Collaborates with the Program Delivery Director and other Program Directors to support the overall successful delivery of the broader program.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess no less than:

  • University degree + EXTENSIVE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 6 years of leadership on large scale airport projects 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional designation in a relevant field is considered a strong asset.
  • Typically brings a minimum of 20 years of professional experience, including at least 15 years in a program management leadership capacity.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience on large-scale airport projects or equivalent infrastructure programs valued over CAD $2 billion.
  • Proven expertise in program management and/or relevant technical disciplines, with a strong track record of delivering complex, multi-faceted programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi-disciplinary teams and assess team capability requirements to ensure optimal performance.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge across all project phases—design, planning, construction, operations, and maintenance—preferably within major infrastructure or airport programs.
  • Strong experience in managing senior stakeholder relationships and providing strategic-level reporting to support informed executive decision-making.
  • Experience in leading or significantly contributing to high-value contract negotiations.
  • Well-versed in collaborative project delivery models, with in-depth knowledge of progressive contracting approaches such as Progressive Design-Build and Target Price models.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven ability to facilitate workshops and meetings involving diverse stakeholder groups.
