The Program Director of Nursing Academic Affairs is responsible for the overall program management, facilitation, and oversight of academic affiliations and the nursing scholarship and education awards program. Collaborative communication regarding academic affairs issues in the DON enterprise is expected. The role also provides leadership and consultation regarding workforce development opportunities that relate to educational preparation of employees. Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with colleagues, college faculty, leaders, affiliated school personnel, nursing students, and Mayo nursing staff promoting a positive image of all programs and serves as the primary coordinator to all nursing faculty and students. Is responsible to develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate policies, programs, and services related to all academic affiliations, including the education awards and the nursing scholarship award program. Is knowledgeable of accrediting body program requirements to assure faculty and student compliance. Participates in assessing the environment, forecasting trends, managing resources, and actively leads collaborative teams composed of affiliated school personnel and other colleagues across Mayo Clinic. Works collaboratively to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate education activities through a systems model for all roles reporting to nursing and other program initiatives outside Nursing Academic Affairs as directed by the nurse administrator and works collaboratively with expanding nursing leadership and allied health staff to meet Departmental priorities. Roles of the program director include educator, facilitator, change agent, collaborator, advisor, mentor, consultant, researcher, and leader.

This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Qualifications

A doctoral degree in nursing or education required (DNP, PhD or EdD). Will consider applicants meeting all other qualifications who commit to degree completion within six months from application date. Master's Degree in Nursing or a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with a Master's Degree in Education. Minimum of three years in nursing education within a healthcare/academic setting and/or five years in a healthcare setting in a position gaining knowledge and skills in operational functions and/or public relations. Education focus in Master's in Nursing program. Academic rank of Assistant Professor of Nursing within the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. National certification in Nursing Professional Development or NLN Certified Nurse Educator. Experience in educational programming, including on- line education deployment programs. Faculty experience. Demonstrated project management skills. Demonstrated teaching skills. Experience in educational programming. Strong organizational and public relation skills. Willingness to travel. 

License and Certification

Current RN license by applicable state requirements. Current valid driver's license.
