This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position oversees the development and operations of the overall child care program and each child care site, ensuring the program meets its intended goals, including creating and maintaining an atmosphere that is character-centered and kid-focused.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  2. Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success. Maintains staff schedules and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  3. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  4. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.
  5. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  6. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  7. Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
  8. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  9. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
  10. Organizes or participates in Y activities, such as committees, special events, and fundraising.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
  • One to two years related experience preferred.
  • Minimum age requirements may apply; for example, minimum age of 21.
  • Acceptable driving record, meeting standards to be added to the Y’s authorized drivers list.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Upon hire:

  • Current Child & Infant and Adult CPR, AED and First Aid must be obtained within 30-days of hire and be current throughout length of employment.  
  • South Sound YMCA’s - New Employee Orientation must be obtained within 45-days of hire.  

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent
  • One to two years of related experience
  • Meet applicable minimum age requirements, such as age 21
  • Acceptable driving record meeting YMCA authorized-driver standards
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse community groups
  • Current Child and Infant CPR, Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire
  • Complete South Sound YMCA New Employee Orientation within 45 days of hire
