Position Function:

The Profitability Manager (FP&A) serves as a key member of Financial Planning & Analysis and leads the development, governance, reporting, and strategic application of enterprise profitability methodologies. This position will report to the FP&A Manager and oversee FP&A Analyst(s). The position supports executive decision-making, capital allocation, pricing discipline, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management through financial and risk-adjusted analytics. The role serves as subject matter expert for Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP), Risk-Adjusted Return on Capital (RAROC), economic capital, customer and product profitability, and unit cost allocation.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Profitability and Analysis: Lead enterprise profitability management, including monthly line of business reporting and analysis of customer profitability. Maintain reporting logic, methodologies, allocation assumptions, and management outputs used to evaluate financial performance and identify opportunities to improve return.
  • Funds Transfer Pricing and RAROC: Serve as subject matter expert and line of business owner for FTP and RAROC methodologies. Review and analyze monthly profitability results and present to executive management and line of business stakeholders.
  • Model Governance: Develop and maintain RAROC model. 
  • Executive and Board Decision Support: Prepare management analyses, presentations, and recommendations. Analyze and develop financial proformas to guide management decisions on whether to pursue new projects and initiatives. 
  • Budgeting, Forecasting, and Business Partnering: Support annual budget development, periodic forecasting, month-end review, and recurring budget variance research. Partner with lines of business and support group leaders to explain financial results, evaluate performance drivers, and provide profitability insights and strategic decision support.
  • Cost Allocation and Methodology Governance: Lead annual and methodology-driven unit cost allocation updates. Evaluate allocation drivers, business assignments, assumptions, policies, and supporting analyses to promote consistent and supportable profitability attribution.
  • Leadership: Effectively lead and develop the team and strive for high performance. Demonstrate the ability to work with all lines of business to achieve strategic goals and initiatives. Practice continuous improvement and evaluate processes for efficiency opportunities. Effectively communicate the financial picture through reports and presentations. 
  • Data Governance/Application Administration: Actively participate in data governance and work with other departments to ensure consistency in the reporting framework. Serve as administrator for the Axiom budget and profitability application.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year university, in Finance or Accounting required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in progressive experience in accounting, treasury, budgeting, management, or financial reporting.
  • 4+ years of supervisory experience or 2+ years of management experience required.
  • Experience with Axiom software preferred.
  • Experience with SQL preferred. 

License/Certification: (if none, delete this section)

  • CPA preferred.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to perform light physical work and to move or lift items including but not limited to boxes, files and papers up to 20 pounds unless otherwise as indicated.
  • Must be able to operate and proficiently use standard office equipment, including phone, copier, personal computer and/or other work related mechanical or electronic devices and applications.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with all internal and external customers. Must also be able to hear sufficiently to engage in daily discussions and interactions.
  • Must be able to read and understand bank-related documents.
  • Must be able to work in a conventional office setting, involving sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods of time. Must also be able to adapt to different work environments as needed to perform the job.
