The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.

Job Responsibilities:

JOB PROFILE: Responsible for assigning, auditing, and scheduling work for employees within the department.  Leads team in problem solving and continuous improvement.  Accountable for the yield, utilization, and labour efficiency of the department.

QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO DO THE JOB:

  • Immediate, open position
  • $93,330 - $103,700 annual compensation
  • Minimum grade 12 education required
  • Previous supervisory experience required
  • Minimum of five years of related work experience in an automotive manufacturing environment required
  • Excellent leadership skills and proven ability to motivate a team
  • Must have ability to provide guidance, coaching and mentorship
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills to deal with issues as they arise
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Computer literate (MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written)
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must have a strong awareness of safety and be quality minded
  • Proven ability to work in a self-directed manner with changing priorities
  • Technical/Mechanical awareness for troubleshooting and resolving robot and machine downtime
  • Ability to work and train with maintenance staff to be active in the control and operation of equipment
  • Must be flexible and willing to work overtime as required

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Scheduling, sequencing and delivery of product
  • Supervises employees within department, lead team meetings, provide training, guidance, mentoring and performance management to ensure employee productivity
  • Assign, audit & schedule appropriate manpower & overtime to ensure payroll reporting & business needs are met
  • Ensure safety standards are being met through safety talks, accident/incident reporting, SPOTMs,  inspections and daily team meetings
  • Ensure MOD Bulletins/Quality Alerts are communicated, signed off and followed
  • Manage cost metrics including team performance boards, (standardized work, safety, quality, productivity, audits)
  • Implement Continuous Improvements in yield, utilization, labour efficiency, cost reduction, 5S, safety and quality
  • Support and manage employee issues, as they arise, including progressive discipline
  • Responsible for effectively managing the Principles of the Employee Charter
  • Determines training requirements for team and ensures matrixes are updated
  • Maintain records, generate and provide downtime, utilization, through put and shift reports
  • Performs all job functions in a safe, healthful and environmentally conscious manner
  • Other duties as assigned
