Position Summary

We are seeking engineering technicians that are responsible for supporting start-up, documenting issues and resolution, and working with the software and process team to resolve issues found in start-up. This includes designing test beds to be used throughout the production floor and ensuring that trucks sent to end of line inspection are free of any functional errors. This role reports to Software manager, within Engineering organization.


Position Responsibilities

  • Diagnose production issues at the OEV plant using various software and CAN tools.
  • Investigate communication between automotive microcontroller units (MCUs) to identify communication failures.
  • Identify electrical circuit faults by tracing communication failures.
  • Lead initial assessments based on a high-level understanding of the overall software system.
  • Manage Software tools internally developed by Software Engineering Team.
  • Manage the daily activities of the Start-up team including:
    • Coordination with cross functional teams to determine scope and timing of activities.
    • Task assignment, balance changing workloads, and ensuring activities are prioritized appropriately.
    • Aligning with other teams to drive successful outcomes across the organization.
  • Create and maintain processes and procedures in start-up.
  • Establish goals, communicate effectively with team members and track completion progress.
  • Communicate significant delays, issues or changes that impact the Start-up process.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage new technologies and methods that enable the team to deliver successful outcomes for a variety of prototype solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend infrastructure and equipment improvements.
  • Specify new tools and equipment as well as present respective justifications to leadership.
  • Anticipate issues and provide options for success that align with cross functional teams.
  • Develop and maintain a safe work environment and mindset.
  • Maintain equipment, Tool cabinets and Start-up area to ensure they are kept clean and organized.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Conduct performance evaluations. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Position Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Experience programming in Python or any other scripting language.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in electronic testing, repair, or manufacturing support, preferably in electric vehicles.
  • Strong understanding of CAN bus theory and operation, High voltage DC systems, and voltage system isolation.
  • Proficiency with test and measurement instruments such as PCAN/CANoe, oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Demonstrated success in leading technical teams
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Ideal Candidates Will Also Have

  • Experience working in or a practical understanding of the trucking industry and/or electric vehicle industry
  • Agile development environment
  • Working knowledge of automotive standards and best practices
