POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Production Supervisor performs a variety of production leadership and supervisory functions to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of daily manufacturing activities. This role is responsible for coordinating workflows, allocating labour resources, monitoring production schedules, and guiding production staff to achieve operational targets while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency standards. The Production Supervisor plays a key role in supporting continuous improvement initiatives and fostering a positive, high-performance work environment.
This role has been created to cover a current vacancy within the team.RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead by example while promoting and enforcing company policies, procedures, standards, and the Code of Conduct.
  • Coordinate workflow across all production workstations, including labour allocation, subcontracted work, and production scheduling to ensure work orders are completed efficiently and on time.
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Manager to generate and communicate daily production schedules and priorities to the broader team.
  • Review daily production reports and monitor work orders, ensuring corrections and updates are completed accurately and promptly.
  • Review and verify all work orders to ensure labour and material transactions are accurately recorded prior to order closure.
  • Maintain and update internal documentation including employee training records, health and safety records, and equipment records.
  • Identify and communicate equipment issues to the Maintenance Leader and Manufacturing Manager to minimize production disruptions.
  • Provide direction, coaching, and support to production employees, including performance feedback, vacation scheduling, attendance management, and disciplinary action when required.
  • Support annual employee performance reviews and merit programs in partnership with the Manufacturing Manager.
  • Monitor departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), provide performance feedback, and participate in corrective action planning and implementation.
  • Support production coverage requirements and collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of a College diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working within a made-to-order, high-mix manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supervising production staff and managing workflow in a manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated success implementing continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and interpreting complex production and operational data.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, including ISO standards.
  • Working knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations, policies, and programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across departments and with external partners.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Frequent walking and standing for extended periods while coordinating production activities.
  • Infrequent sitting at a desk for administrative tasks and reporting.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments with varying temperatures, dust, and noise levels.
  • Frequent mental concentration required when reviewing production data, ERP information, work orders, and employee-related matters.
  • Ability to effectively manage interruptions and changing priorities throughout the workday.
  • Overtime may be required based on operational and business needs.
