PURPOSE AND SCOPE

Supervises and coordinates the work for employees on assembly lines or welding lines.  Maintain pre-established production levels.  Assure compliance with approved methods and procedures.  Resolves production scheduling issues.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the operations of production and materials. 

  • Coordinate labor availability and materials supply. 

  • Supervises the daily activities of operations unit. 

  • Motivates staff and deals effectively with performance and/or production issues. 

  • Must be able to read and interpret parts prints, assembly prints and tooling prints. 

  • Implements operational procedures. 

  • Must be familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.  Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 

  • Plan and meet production.  Continually monitor methods and output. 

  • Meet daily production needs by coordinating materials and resources. 

  • Maintain efficiency through effective personnel management. 

  • Evaluates individual performance and makes appropriate recommendations. 

  • Review the progress of work by answering questions, evaluating decisions, and resolving problems. 

  • Understands and supports safe production practices and good housekeeping.
     

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  
 

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Full understanding of product assembly. 

  • Ability to work all areas at subordinate level.    

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS:  

  

LANGUAGE SKILLS 
Ability to respond to common inquiries.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. 
 
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. 
 
REASONING ABILITY 
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS    
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.    

  

WORK ENVIRONMENT     
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
