Our best-in-class Operations team is dedicated to providing our customers with highly-engineered machinery that exceeds our customers expectations. Here, working in coordination with our on-site Engineering and Materials teans, you will lead our Assembly team that is committed to producing our industry leading Maintenance of Way equipment.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Operations team, you will be responsible for the supervision of the work activities of employees in assembly and related areas, including work assignments and schedule of work hours to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the effective use of labor hours, safety and quality.
What do we want to know about you?
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or five (5) years of manufacturing experience
- Three (3) to Five (5) years related supervisory and project-management experience, preferably in a team-based continuous improvement manufacturing environment.
- Manufacturing experience including mechanical, electrical and hydraulic background.
- Project Management Experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of tool functions
- Microsoft Office Products
- ERP System (Syspro)

What will your typical day look like?
- Ensure each employee performs their job following manufacturing, equipment and safety procedures and requirements to consistently produce good results.
- Direct production personnel and material flow to meet the company’s objectives for Delivery, Quality, Cost and Safety.
- Lead and manage the quality processes in support of the company’s objectives for delivering quality products consistent with Nordco’s high quality image in the industry.
- Work with Leads on assembly issues and escalation plans
- Schedule work assignments and work hours to maximize productivity and efficiency, and the effective use of labor hours while minimizing downtime. Ensure jobs meet or beat planned hours.
- Use company’s MRP system to track and locate missing parts.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify needs and to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources for building machines
- Conduct meetings with other Production Supervisors and Leads to ensure operation continuity.
- Complete reports and all records in a timely and accurate manner to ensure that all transactions and labor hours are reported accurately. Maintain records and verify accuracy of paperwork.
- Participate in the selection of new team members. Mentor and counsel employees including disciplinary actions. Enforce all company policies including work rules.
- Manage all special projects such as NIT builds, Complex REMAN and REPAIR projects within schedule and cost requirements. Direct Manufacturing and Design Engineering and Procurement resources as required.
- Assist Design Engineers in recommending design related solutions.
- Facilitate daily GEMBA walks. Drive Counter Measures through Operations and Supporting Teams. Reports on Operational Excellence metrics.
- Drive LEAN Enterprise practices on the shop floor including 5S, Single-Piece Flow, Kaizen and Standard Work.
- Lead and support initiatives that improve safety awareness and injury avoidance.
- Foster a continuous improvement performance culture. Mentor, motivate and counsel employees to optimize performance and personal growth, and build leadership capability.
- Promote safety and conduct operations in accordance with customer requirements.
What about the physical demands of the job?
Work is primarily light duty and requires the ability to regularly lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. This position requires the ability to sit, stand and walk unassisted. Requires the use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is required to talk and hear. Normal correctable vision is required.
You may be asked to travel up to 50% of the time
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

The salary rate for this role is currently $79100-112800 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
