Job Description

Job Title: Production Supervisor

*This is a Safety Sensitive position. *

Job Summary: The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading production employees to safely produce high-quality products while meeting operational, environmental, and process requirements. This role drives performance through effective leadership, employee engagement, and consistent execution of plant standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily leadership and direction to production employees to meet safety, quality, and production goals

  • Promote a strong safety culture by leading safety discussions, encouraging safe behaviors, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational procedures

  • Train, coach, and develop employees using Standard Work Instructions (SWI), SOPs, and work instructions; identify training needs and support ongoing development

  • Address employee concerns, conflicts, and performance issues promptly while reinforcing IKO values and expectations

  • Evaluate employee performance regularly and provide coaching and feedback to support continuous improvement

  • Complete and maintain required documentation, including production reports, metrics, checklists, timecards, absences, and incident investigations

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with employees, supervisors, maintenance, and cross-functional teams

  • Participate in daily production meetings, continuous improvement initiatives, and operational problem-solving

  • Maintain strong 5S and housekeeping standards and coordinate with maintenance to report breakdowns and submit service requests

  • Build respectful, collaborative relationships across departments and perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent hands-on supervisory experience

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing or technical environment

  • Proven ability to lead people effectively, make decisions, and influence positive behavior

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and ability to motivate others

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with timekeeping systems and managing employee schedules

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is an asset

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel (manual dexterity); and reach with hands and arms. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. Employee must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces. The employee must frequently lift and move items over fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Production Supervisors work rotating schedules and varying shifts based on operational needs. A typical work week is 40–50 hours, generally Monday through Thursday, with occasional overtime or schedule adjustments as required. Shift assignments and schedules are subject to change as business and operational requirements evolve.

Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
