SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor is a front-line operations leader responsible for improving Quality, Human Safety, and Product Cost Efficiency while engaging and developing talent. This role leads teams of 25-30 production associates, ensuring operational targets are met. The supervisor will focuses on safety, quality, performance management, continuous improvement, and associate development for their assigned area. They collaborate with the 24-hour Area Leadership Team to implement continuous improvement strategies and Supply Excellence initiatives. This leader is also responsible for building and managing an effective team, ensuring proper training, and enforcing policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Efficiency: Lead multi-line teams to efficiently convert materials into quality products in a safe, sanitary manner, meeting product design specifications.
Change Management: Implement and recommend changes in methods, equipment, or systems to achieve operational goals using a Continuous Improvement mindset.
Supply Excellence (SE): Lead or support SE Pillars, including Autonomous Maintenance (AM) and Autonomous Work Teams (AWTs), ensuring accuracy in reliability data collection.
Nature’s Bakery Operating System: Advocate for and support the site's Daily Management System, coaching teams in the Value Stream Operating System.
Area Ownership: Collaborate with the Area Leadership Team to create and execute a reliability strategy for your area.
Coaching: Develop operators’ functional and leadership skills while driving accountability in safety, quality, and team engagement.
Operations Coordination: Manage materials, staffing, and resources to support line operations and changeovers.
Standards Implementation: Ensure standards are communicated, reinforced, and adhered to through coaching and accountability.
Safety and Quality: Drive a strong focus on safety and food safety, ensuring the ongoing production of safe, defect-free products. HACCP proficiency is required.
Associate Development: Manage associate relations, recruitment, training, and development, fostering a high-engagement team environment.
Performance Management: Set performance goals, measure progress, and take corrective action as needed.
Troubleshooting: Lead preventive maintenance and equipment troubleshooting efforts to achieve desired performance.
Escalations: Identify risks and resolve escalated issues on-shift, assigning resources as necessary.
Communication and Engagement: Ensure open communication and foster an environment of high associate engagement.
Technological Advancement: Identify opportunities for technological improvements to enhance line performance.
Strategy Implementation: Help implement strategies to drive near-term operational improvements.
Recruitment and Onboarding: Partner with Talent Acquisition to recruit, select, and onboard associates for operational roles.
EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred (3+ years in a technical manufacturing continuous improvement environment with a High School Diploma).
Prior experience leading manufacturing team 2+ years with preferred direct report responsibilities
Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably with direct people management.
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and plant operations.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across all functions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
Experience with plant sanitation practices and OSHA safety standards or certifications.
HACCP proficiency is required; this manager owns ongoing training and championing of quality goals and improvements at the Area Shift level.
Ability to deliver performance feedback and hold associates accountable to business objectives.
