THE ROLE
The Production Supervisor reports to the Assistant Plant Manager or designated site Operations leader and provides hands-on leadership for the day-to-day operation of production areas. This position supervises hourly Production Assistants in the greenhouse and packhouse and is accountable for safe, timely, and efficient production. The Production Supervisor coordinates labor, materials, equipment, food safety, quality, sanitation, and cross-functional support to achieve the site production plan.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Production Planning and Daily Execution
- Lead assigned production areas (greenhouse and packhouse) and manage the day-to-day production schedule and labor.
- Hold daily team meetings to set the plan for the day’s production
- Responsible for pacing and timing of production work, setting up and breaking down of production at the start and end of shift, and manage to the production schedule.
- Monitor production throughout the shift and make adjustments as needed to meet target goals.
- Focus on continuous improvement of packing methods & efficiency of greenhouse systems
- Use KPIs to measure and improve production efficiency and share KPIs in production meetings
- Assist in daily production tasks as needed or assigned
Team Leadership and Labor Management
- Supervise and oversee the full shift of production and provide hands-on leadership across all assigned production areas, including hiring, performance management, and corrective actions.
- Own and plan staffing to meet production demand and meet business objectives
- Review and approve timecards weekly and promptly resolve or escalate all time discrepancies
- Set expectations with team members and drive accountability amongst employees under the Company’s policies.
- Provide employee training, coaching and mentoring to team members for growth, development, and a workplace for continued learning and improvement.
- Maintain training and cross-training records and develop flexible team coverage for optimal labor use
- Partner with Human Resources to address employee performance concerns
- Lead with a professional and positive “can do” mind set to drive engagement and daily motivation
- Maintain high standards for quality; Encourage reporting amongst team members, and report all quality issues
Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance
- Follow the facility GMPs.
- Execute daily processes that enforce food safety protocols and maintain compliance.
- Support the efforts of the Company to maintain our food safety and quality control programs.
- Daily oversight of adherence to food safety program by all team members
- Conduct required checks and complete required logs and records accurately and on-time
- Responsible for ongoing involvement in key programs and verifying that critical operations (such cleaning, allergen handling, HACCP, etc) are always managed by qualified, trained personnel.
- Ensure cleanliness in all production areas and take a “proud operator” approach
- Monitor cooler, production, and storage conditions and promptly escalate any food-safety issues.
- Partner with FSQA to complete inspections, audits, investigations, corrective actions, and employee retraining
Inventory Management
- Monitor, request, receive, organize, and control inventory supplies at set levels to be ready for production
- Timely complete all production and inventory counts accurately in the ERP system, logs and records.
- Coordinate replenishment with internal departments proactively and with clear communication
- Ensure packaging and labels are stored, issued, verified, reconciled, and returned or destroyed according to applicable control and traceability requirements.
- Conduct or support cycle counts and inventory investigations, and escalate count discrepancies
Equipment Readiness and Safe Operations
- Maintain a safe work environment, address hazards promptly, report incidents and near misses, and participate in investigations and corrective actions.
Perform any other duties as directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 3 years of experience in a fast-paced CPG manufacturing environment, fresh foods and/or greenhouse, agriculture, farming operations experience a plus
- 1 year of leadership supervisory experience of non-exempt workforce
- Food safety, HACCP, PCQI, OSHA, Lean, Six Sigma, or similar operations or compliance training are preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with ERP and inventory control
- High standards for food safety and quality control
- Leads by example to build team morale and engagement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint, Sage, HRIS time management systems
- Ability to work in production environments and in hot/cold temperatures
- Use required personal protective equipment and set model example
- Great multitasking abilities and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- A strong desire to learn and grow
- Attentive, organized and an eye for detail
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Availability to work assigned shifts and provide weekend, holiday, off-shift, and emergency coverage when business needs require.
- Valid authorization to work in the United States.
