Summary Generated by Built In

At ETEL, we’re committed to delivering high-quality, reliable distribution & small power transformers and power solutions for our customers — and strong engineering discipline is critical to how we design, manufacture, and deliver our products.

In this role, you’ll lead the Production Engineering function and own the standards that underpin safe, consistent, and effective manufacturing of our distribution transformer range across our global operations.

We’re looking for a leader who can connect engineering intent with operational execution — ensuring standards are applied consistently, capability is built, and manufacturing performance is stable and reliable.

About the role

As Production & Standards Engineering Manager, you’ll provide leadership and technical governance across Production Engineering and manufacturing standards, supporting the delivery of ETEL’s distribution transformers across New Zealand and Indonesia.

Sitting at the intersection of Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality, you’ll ensure that engineering standards, processes, and practices are consistently applied — supporting safe operations, effective change implementation, and strong alignment from design of distribution transformers through production.

This is a key leadership role where you’ll influence both engineering capability and operational performance at a group level.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading and developing the Production Engineering team across NZ and Indonesia
  • Owning and maintaining production engineering standards, guidelines, and standard work
  • Ensuring alignment between engineering design standards and manufacturing practices in both NZ and Indonesia
  • Providing governance and oversight of production-related engineering changes and new introductions
  • Supporting safe and controlled rollout of new components, materials, and processes
  • Leading cross-site alignment of engineering practices and standards across manufacturing locations
  • Acting as the senior escalation point for complex or systemic production engineering issues
  • Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to lift overall performance and capability

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent experience
  • Strong experience in production or manufacturing engineering within complex industrial environments
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including coaching and performance management
  • Strong understanding of engineering standards, change management, and manufacturing risk

Desirable:

  • Experience working across multi-site or international manufacturing operations
  • Experience in transformer manufacturing or high-voltage equipment environments
  • Exposure to Continuous Improvement or operational excellence frameworks

What sets you apart

  • You set clear engineering standards and hold teams accountable to them
  • You value consistency, discipline, and strong governance
  • You apply sound judgement — knowing when to guide, challenge, or step in
  • You develop people and build capability across teams
  • You think holistically across design, production, testing, and quality to drive better outcomes

Why ETEL

At ETEL, you’ll be part of a business that values collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to shape how engineering standards and production capability are embedded across our global operations and play a key role in delivering consistent, high-quality distribution and small power transformers to our customers.

We’re committed to creating an environment where people can do their best work and feel proud of the contribution they make. We also believe in building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected and supported.

You must be eligible to work in New Zealand and currently reside here.
