Position Summary:
Hamilton Broadway Signs is a workforce enterprise of Roots Community Health’s Emancipator Initiative. This program remedies the societal and structural inequities that deny members of our community the opportunity for stability and advancement. 100% of proceeds go towards enriching and scaling this training program. Reporting to the Hamilton Broadway Sign Shop Manager, the Sign Maker creates and assembles signs and sign parts. This position is part of a diverse team of curious, creative and hard-working people.
Duties and Responsibilities:
? Create and assemble signs and sign parts by handling, weeding, taping cut vinyl letters, laminating, and mounting a variety of media to a variety of substrates.
? Trim out printed and mounted materials with handheld knives and a vertical cutter.
? Cut wood, Plex, and metal with electrical saws (table and vertical).
? Assist with material and shop organization.
? Operate latex printer, vinyl plotter, and associated software
? Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
Competencies:
? High School Diploma with 2-3 years’ experience working in a production capacity in a creative shop space
? Experience working with sign shop machinery—latex printer, plotter, small-format digital printer
? Familiarity with Onyx, Adobe Creative Cloud, Fiery, and Corebridge is highly desirable.
? Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
? Proficiency in Google Suite preferred.
? Strong analytical and writing skills.

Roots Community Health Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting individuals impacted by systemic inequities and poverty. They provide a comprehensive suite of services, including medical and behavioral health care, health navigation, workforce enterprises, housing assistance, outreach, and advocacy. Their mission focuses on addressing health disparities and promoting wellness in underserved communities, specifically within the Black community in East Oakland.
