SUMMARY

Responsible for maintaining production schedules.  Locates and expedites orders to ensure timely completion and shipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Control and monitor the flow of finished goods inventory.
  • Plan and create production work orders based on analysis of inventory needs.
  • Conduct daily reviews to maintain optimization and achieve inventory goals and extrusion efficiency.
  • Maintain inventory levels to meet the company’s goals for inventory turns.
  • Maintain accurate inventory to support customer demand.
  • Prepare a daily production schedule and communicate it to the production department.
  • Run the daily shortage report and ensure products are included in the production schedule.
  • Review backorders or issues causing shortages and notify Customer Service.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service and Production on rush customer orders.
  • Audit daily production efficiency and productivity; verify adherence to the schedule.
  • Ensure proper inventory levels are maintained.
  • Determine quarterly raw material forecasts for supplier planning.
  • Requisition cartons and foam needed to support production, follow up on deliveries, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Communicate frequently with Tool & Die, Maintenance, Production, and Planning management to coordinate tooling, extrusion line issues, and downstream equipment.
  • Communicate with Warehouse/Inventory regarding strategic build requirements and space considerations.
  • Work with Production to determine monthly production run quantities to support forecasts.
  • Monitor daily production quantities against plan to ensure monthly targets are met.
  • Provide support to cycle‑counting functions as needed.
  • Serve as backup for production reporting when the Inventory Coordinator is absent.
  • Provide vacation coverage for ordering purchased finished goods.
  • Work with Shipping on storage and organization of excess inventory.
  • Review customer returns daily to ensure inventories are transferred back into the system.
  • Identify obsolete and slow‑moving inventory.
  • Communicate daily with the production department regarding the production schedule.
  • Communicate with the purchaser regarding carton requirements and shortages.
  • Communicate with Customer Service regarding SPR run dates.
  • Communicate daily with Customer Service regarding customer shortages or issues that may result in short shipments.
  • Attend production planning meetings.
  • Participate in mid‑year and year‑end inventory counts.
  • Maintain constructive working relationships with all departments, co‑workers, supervisors, and management.
  • Assist others in the department as needed.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain a level of quality consistent with established standards.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Comply with all established safety rules and use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Maintain regular attendance in accordance with company policy.

                                     

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma required; an associate degree or college degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • In‑depth knowledge of production practices and scheduling for multiple product lines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, with strong working knowledge of Excel and database software. Experience with JDE or a similar ERP system is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, along with solid written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi‑task effectively.
  • Bilingual proficiency is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
