How you'll make an impact:
As a Scheduler, you’ll be based in the office at our Hutchinson, MN facility and report to the Operations Director. In this role, you’ll play a key part in planning and maintaining orderly production schedules to meet customer demands, maximize production efficiencies, and maximize throughput, ultimately helping us deliver exceptional packaging solutions that make a difference for our customers. Our Scheduler is the “hub” that keeps all team members aligned.
What you’ll do:
- Responsible for promptly confirming and communicating On-Time Manufacturing (OTM) dates to Coordinators. Also responsible for communicating when OTM dates have changed.
- Apply analytical thinking to balance capacity, customer demand, and production constraints.
- Ensures that production schedules are sequenced to meet customer commitments, maximize production efficiencies, and maximize throughput.
- Distributes the production schedules for the next 24 hours to each machine, the Supervisors, and Leads.
- Escalates to management when production lead times extend for key customer accounts and key value streams. Makes recommendations to reduce these lead times.
- Provides plans for production shortfalls and gains, alters schedules accordingly, and communicates changes to appropriate personnel and departments to resolve issues that may cause delays or disruptions.
- Works with production management to schedule overtime to satisfy customer requirements.
- Coordinates machine down time with department supervisors, maintenance and planning.
- Ensures commitments made to customers can be achieved and presents options when commitments are in jeopardy.
- Continuously monitors and reports on actual production make-ready and run speeds vs. estimated time in scheduling system where the goal is to have estimates and actuals align as closely as possible.
- Collaborate with production supervisors to make schedule adjustments based on changing conditions, while achieving OTM dates.
- Promptly responds to customer expedite requests and communicates to Coordinators any changes to OTM dates.
- Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of production processes, equipment, and capabilities.
- Leads daily production meetings.
- Initiates action to prevent quality problems, contributes to possible solutions, and verifies implementation of solutions. Controls further processing when a quality problem is identified.
- Evaluates and identifies opportunities to drive process improvements that positively impact the customer’s experience and improve internal processes and systems.
What it takes to succeed:
Basic Qualifications
- Three plus years’ experience with scheduling in a complex manufacturing environment.
- Thorough knowledge of litho printing as well as die-cutting, laminating and gluing preferred.
- Embraces Continuous Improvement.
- Computer literate with experience using the Microsoft Office Suite.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
