Summary/Objective

The Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining detailed production plans that ensure the efficient use of resources, on-time delivery, and alignment with customer requirements for custom-designed electric power transformers. This role works closely with Marketing, Customer Service, Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing to translate orders and forecasts into actionable production schedules while balancing capacity, materials, and lead times.

Essential Functions

  • Daily On-Site Attendance.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate detailed production plans for all transformer products.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Customer Service to understand customer priorities, delivery commitments, and project timelines.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, and Manufacturing to plan for custom configurations, long-lead components, and capacity constraints.
  • Monitor production schedules, backlog, and forecasts to proactively adjust plans.
  • Communicate schedule changes and impacts to all relevant departments to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • Maintain accurate production plan data within the ERP system and ensure system-driven production signals are timely and actionable.
  • Support cross-functional planning processes including order entry reviews, customer promise date coordination, and S&OP activities.
  • Monitor performance metrics such as schedule adherence, lead time variance, and on-time delivery to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify and resolve production planning conflicts between customer expectations and operational realities.
  • Track and maintain inventory levels related to production requirements.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
 

Environment/Physical Requirements

The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department in the Office and Factory Floor.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time salaried position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. However, depending on workload there may be occasional longer days and occasional weekends as needed. Employee is expected to work the hours necessary in order to timely and satisfactorily complete all necessary work tasks.

Travel is not required for this position.
 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field, OR equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in production planning or scheduling within a complex, engineered-to-order manufacturing environment, preferably heavy equipment or capital goods.
  • Strong understanding of custom manufacturing processes, material planning, and capacity management.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-oriented mindset and ability to work across functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to support decisions and solve problems.

Skills Required
