Job DescriptionPosition Summary & Objective
The Production Planner will manage the schedule and timeliness of the production process to ensure the company meets all deadlines. Duties may include managing material, equipment and scheduling production and monitoring any problems that may arise. The Production Planner develops the production plan and will detail all tasks that will be completed by the prediction date.
Essential Functions Performed by the Position
- Demonstrates strong ability to read and understand blueprints and technical specifications.
- Uses engineering drawings to guide setup and operation of CNC machines and manual equipment.
- Able to identify critical dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements from technical drawings
- Plan equipment, material, and manpower requirements to execute job orders
- Issues engineering change requests as required.
- Coordinates with managers in planning and implementing engineering changes in production
- Adhere to company standards and production policies to meet company objectives.
- Track and trace inventory of materials in process and finished products
- Monitors cost of production products and cost of personnel and advises production manager discrepancies
- Satisfy requirements of ISO 9001/ 14001 Quality Standard and OSHAS 18001, as it relates to these functions.
- Supports Production plans for Machine Shop, Fabrication Shop and Outside Vendors
- Plan production tasks and schedules according to costumer orders
- Assists department Managers to assure proper labor utilization while establishing priorities for departments.
- Observes production progress and revises planning, when necessary, due to unavailability of machinery, manpower shortages, delayed receipt of material, customer changes, etc.
- Provides logistics support for shipment of parts and materials
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Detail Oriented
- Knowledge of production planning and quality control principles
- Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses or Certifications Required
- APICS/CPIM certification is highly desired.
- Six Sigma Lean Management desired.
