Job Summary: The Production Scheduler plays a key role in helping us meet the needs of our customers. This position requires a high degree of collaboration with our Operations, Food Safety Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Warehousing, and Sales Teams.  Key responsibilities include creating detailed production schedules for all production areas while ensuring these schedules are being met and optimized, resolving challenges/obstacles, and ensuring that the organization can provide a high level of service to our customers. This role is very dynamic and provides real opportunities to drive continuous improvement in the business.

Responsibilities: 

  • Plans, creates, and maintains the production schedule based upon demand planning, actual sales orders of finished goods, internal capacity, and factors affecting schedule attainment while being as cost effective as possible
  • Understands basic principles of supplier lead time, inventory days on hand, demand variability and forecasting, and minimum order quantities for best price
  • Monitors raw material consumption, maintains a material ordering plan based on lead times, creates purchase orders in the D365, and follows up on deliveries and arrivals
  • Addresses weekly production order issues, revises production orders and schedules as needed due to business demands or inventory discrepancies and communicates changes to key stakeholders and departments
  • Identifies root causes in schedule attainment failures or misses and collaborates with other departments to identify and analyze the root cause. Develops improvements to avoid future failures
  • Communicates with Production about schedule changes and clarifies any open questions regarding schedules or priorities
  • Leads & participates in Change Control Management on new items/new materials
  • Provides assistance to related departments when applicable (supplier invoice discrepancies with accounting, non-conforming material, supplier root cause and corrective actions with quality) 
  • Notifies Production Manager and Supervisors of aged and slow-moving inventory
  • Understands MRP outputs in Microsoft Dynamics (D365) and effectively plans around them
  • Schedules and manages batches in ERP system including the appropriate status to support system, production and purchasing activities
  • Monitors and manages transitions of new raw material numbers and start of production plans for new finished goods skus
  • Reviews production operation and processes and proactively identifies and implements opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Interacts with suppliers to manage portfolio including forecast, ordering, and expediting of material
  • Maintains relationships with our vendors, effectively communicates when deliver or material issues occur
  • Attends and participates in daily production meetings
  • Supports the Receiving Lead by providing backup support for inventory receiving, paperwork, and batch order completion
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management or related curriculum or 3+ years of relevant experience in a production scheduling/planning role
  • Knowledge of Material Resource Planning, inventory control and order management
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new software quickly
  • Intermediate Excel knowledge
  • Strong attention to detail with good organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Positive attitude and team player

Skills Required

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management or related, or 3+ years relevant production scheduling/planning experience
  • Knowledge of Material Resource Planning (MRP), inventory control and order management
  • Experience with ERP systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics D365 preferred)
  • Intermediate Excel knowledge
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software quickly
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Positive attitude and ability to work as a team player
