This is an on-site role that will be assigned to a Broadridge location where you will work 100% of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily insert operations to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and service level agreements (SLAs) are consistently met.

  • Lead, coach, and develop hourly production staff, including training on equipment operation, safety procedures, and quality expectations.

  • Plan and assign labor based on daily workloads, staffing levels, and production priorities.

  • Monitor machine performance, throughput, and downtime; troubleshoot basic equipment issues and escalate maintenance needs as required.

  • Ensure materials (inserts, envelopes, paper stock, trays, etc.) are staged and available to prevent production delays.

  • Enforce all safety policies, housekeeping standards, and compliance requirements.

  • Perform quality checks throughout the shift to ensure accurate inserting, correct matching of materials, and proper mailpiece integrity.

  • Track and report key performance metrics such as volume produced, scrap, rework, efficiency, and labor utilization.

  • Investigate and resolve production errors, jams, and quality defects; implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Coordinate with upstream and downstream departments (Print, Postal, Shipping, QA) to ensure smooth workflow.

  • Approve timecards, manage attendance, and address performance or disciplinary issues in accordance with company policy.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process inefficiencies and recommending improvements.

  • Ensure all jobs are properly set up according to job tickets, work orders, and client specifications.

  • Maintain accurate production documentation and shift reports.

  • Assist with onboarding and cross-training of employees to improve department flexibility.

  • Operational Leadership: Ability to coordinate and guide teams across insertion and mail operations; steady decision-making during high-volume cycles.

  • Workflow Management: Skilled in sequencing jobs, managing SLAs, prioritizing critical workstreams, and adjusting schedules when the day bends in unexpected directions.

  • Quality Assurance: Strong eye for defects (print quality, folds, jams, mis-matches, machine behaviors), with the discipline to enforce documentation and corrective actions.

  • Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with production equipment such as inserters, and postage systems; capable of basic troubleshooting.

  • Data & Metrics: Ability to interpret production dashboards, throughput data, waste reports, reprint causes, and operator performance metrics; comfortable with spreadsheets and production systems.

  • Communication: Clear, steady communication with operators, leadership, maintenance, and support teams; timely escalation when schedules or SLAs are at risk.

  • Problem Solving: Able to diagnose workflow bottlenecks, equipment issues, and process disconnects; capable of crafting practical, immediate solutions.

  • Team Development: Experience training staff, cross-skilling operators, and providing constructive performance feedback.

  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of print-shop safety standards—lockout/tagout basics, paper/ink/chemical handling, machine-zone precautions.

  • Documentation: Competence in writing shift reports, exception logs, incident summaries, and SOP updates.

Qualifications:

  • Prior leadership or lead-operator experience, ideally supervising 5–20 employees across multiple shifts or zones.

  • Experience working with SLA-driven clients, financial/healthcare mailings, or compliance-controlled environments (SOC, HIPAA, PCI) is a strong advantage.

  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, deadline-driven operations with large daily volume swings.

  • Familiarity with:

    • Insertion equipment technology is helpful.

    • Postal regulations and mailing standards

    • Job tracking systems, shop-floor management tools, and ticketing/escalation systems

  • Understanding lean principles (5S, waste reduction) is helpful.

  • Strong follow-through—ensures tasks, fixes, and escalations don’t fall into the cracks.

  • Collaborative mindset; works well across production, QA, maintenance, planning, and client teams.

  • Dependable, consistent, and detail steadfast.
