Job Description:
As the key leader of the Production department, you will be driving our focus on Safety, Quality, and Product Readiness to meet customers’ needs and expectations. You’ll oversee a department of 4 supervisors and approximately 50 employees responsible for the production of closures in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. You’ll be a key leader in coordinating the production floor operations including the safety and morale of employees, the manufacturing operations, housekeeping, and equipment with the objective of improving the plant's performance in safety, cost, delivery, and quality. You are the Leader in upholding the sites Quality Standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for achieving safety, quality, and productivity goals in a 24/7 Manufacturing Department. Manage production activities and provide direction and support for all shifts
- Direct activities of the 4 shift supervisors, establish department procedures, determine priorities and secure results through subordinates
- Responsible for production employee development, conduct and overall performance of Department
- Address employee concerns, resolve problems, train, coach and discipline employees
- Make recommendations on hiring and terminations
- Enforce Company policies, safety standards, quality, GMP’s and ISO procedures Drive cost saving initiatives, efficiency gains, and process improvements
- Responsible for accurate production reporting and timekeeping
- Drive improvements in production efficiencies and ensure efficient labor utilization
- Use plant reporting and accounting systems to ensure cost control, make capital recommendations and deliver cost reductions
- Organize and lead employee teams to address scrap, quality, safety, and other production issues
- Corrective Action and Preventative Action key team member for internal and external matters

Educational & Other Skill RequirementsEducational and Other Skills Requirements:
- BS in Manufacturing/Engineering/Related Field/or Equivalent Combination of Experience and Education.
- 10+ years in Manufacturing
- 5+ years in Leadership roles
- Self-driven
- Excellent communication and record keeping within company and externally with customers and vendors
- Engineering minded
- Problem solving including identify, recommendations, and solutions to topics
- Team building
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to use various computer and internet applications, including database management
- Extensive knowledge and use of manufacturing equipment
- Knowledge in high speed manufacturing (preferred)
- Experience in training personnel in job related activities (preferred)
- Plastics manufacturing background (preferred)
- Understanding of Quality as a Quality Management System along with ISO and Food Safety Standards (preferred)
- Six Sigma (preferred)
- Lean Manufacturing (preferred)
- Formal Plastics process training and/or High Speed Manufacturing (preferred)
- Safety, Leadership, Teamwork, Customers, Agility
Shift Schedule:
- Primarily Works 1st Shift with expectations to work with off-shifts as necessary.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field
- Five or more years of experience in production management
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Operational Excellence techniques and Lean Manufacturing concepts (Toyota Manufacturing)
- Experience using statistical process control (SPC) and quality tools (problem solving, root cause analysis, TQM, ISO 9000, SOP)
- Knowledge and experience with process manufacturing, plastic molding, and bottling operations
- Specific closure manufacturing experience
- Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and ability to lead organizational change
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing
- Experience developing and delivering training programs, coaching and counseling production staff
- Ability to manage capital projects, including writing and completing RFAs
- Ability to work 10-hour days and be on-call after hours as required
- Willingness and ability to wear required safety gear and comply with safety policies
- Ability to analyze shift/plant performance data, use spreadsheets and financial data for assessments
- Able to travel without assistance as required by the role
