We are seeking a highly motivated and inspirational leader to oversee operations and employees in our PMO Chesapeake Production Department, leading a team of approximately 30 employees and driving production assignments to ensure timely completion of projects. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of custom cable and metalwork fabrication and assembly, preferably with a focus on communications systems, and possess strong leadership and project management skills. Our department supports the production of various systems, including C5ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) systems, Electronic Security Systems (ESS), and Audio/Video and Video Teleconferencing (AV/VTC) systems, and we require a leader who can effectively manage production workflows, prioritize tasks, and adjust to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment with demanding customers.
As a people manager, the candidate will be responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities to the team, fostering a positive and productive work environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and growth. This will involve conducting regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback, and making recommendations for employee development and succession planning. Additionally, this role is responsible for Identifying, developing, and retaining talent within the department. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of talent development, employee engagement, and performance management, and will be able to establish clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and address performance issues in a timely and constructive manner.
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of custom cable and metalwork fabrication and assembly, preferably with a focus on communications systems. The Production Manager also provides technical guidance and support to production staff and will be able to leverage their expertise to drive production assignments and ensure timely completion of projects. The candidate will also be responsible for overseeing daily production operations, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
This position is located in Chesapeake, VA. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Chesapeake, VA or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Business Administration, Engineering, or Operations Management.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a military, manufacturing, or production environment with demanding customers and tight deadlines.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data, prioritize tasks, and adjust to changing circumstances.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- In-depth cable fabrication and communications system assembly experience.
- Strong knowledge of Project Management Professional (PMP) principles and methodologies.
- Experience with Agile and Lean and Six Sigma principles, with a focus on process improvement and waste reduction.
- Knowledge Key Performance Indicators (KPI) management.
- Manufacturing and production database management experience.
- Change Management experience.
- PMP certification.
- Experience with Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies.
- Experience with process improvement and implementation of new technologies.
- Familiarity with the design, development, and integration of C5ISR, ESS, and AV/VTC systems, including:
- C5ISR: command and control systems, communications networks, and cyber security solutions.
- ESS: access control, surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.
- AV/VTC: design, installation, and maintenance of audio and video systems, including video conferencing and collaboration solutions.
- Experience working with military or government contracts.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $92180 - $156707

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
