About the Role

As a Production Manager at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in leading daily plant operations, coordinating labor assignments, and driving employee development to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality on the production floor. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to operational excellence and continuous improvement efforts.

You will collaborate with departments such as Quality, Maintenance, and Inventory to ensure production goals are met while fostering a positive, safe, and team-oriented work environment. This is an on-site role located in Niles, Ohio.

What You’ll Do
  • Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy.

  • Performs quality checks on equipment and production areas to ensure customer and quality standards are met.

  • Develops work schedules and labor assignments to achieve daily and long-term production goals.

  • Delegates responsibilities and ensures accountability across team members.

  • Provides training and cross-training; conducts performance evaluations and initiates disciplinary actions as needed.

  • Monitors and supervises cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory.

  • Generates and reviews daily operations reports to ensure shift continuity and address operational issues.

  • Identifies, communicates, and escalates maintenance needs.

  • Collaborates with the Quality Department to develop and uphold site-specific quality standards.

  • Develops and implements action plans to enhance plant performance and efficiencies.

  • Documents workplace injuries, recommends corrective actions, and ensures follow-through on safety initiatives.

  • Hires, coaches, and evaluates team members while supporting employee growth and development.

  • Performs other duties as assigned to support plant operations.

  • Maintains regular, full-time, predictable on-site attendance as an essential function of the role.

Who You Are
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment

  • Associate degree with an emphasis on management or supervision (or equivalent experience)

  • Working knowledge of shop floor systems such as MES and SAP or comparable platforms

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills

  • Effective problem-solving, time management, and conflict resolution abilities

  • Ability to foster productive working relationships and drive team performance
