About the role Job SummarySupervises service areas (machine shop, weld, NDE) and personnel. Assures safety, cost management, on time delivery and quality following department policies and procedures. Communicates facility goals, safety practices, and deadlines to team. Motivates team members and assesses performance. Allocates resources to maximize potential and maintain on-time and on-standard performance. Responsible for staffing and budget control of department.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads facility safety objectives.
- Assures department compliance with ISO quality standards
- Assures department functions are complying with quality certification and specific requirements (primarily weld and NDE).
- Assigns work to subordinates and assists them in accomplishing tasks
- Drives to maximize shop absorption and personnel labor efficiency. Reports weekly to SCM
- Monitors job task hours and holds team accountable for targets. Reports results weekly to SCM. Drives team to meet job costing targets.
- Drives process improvements to continually reduce task hours.
- Supports repair coordination team and works to improvement repair coordination team throughput and productivity
- Resolves issues with work instructions to shop, includes interfacing with engineering, purchasing, planning and repair coordination
- Coordinates and communicates schedules and requirements with other departments where services and materials are provided or received
- Ensures adequate staffing to meet customer delivery needs
- Defines and manages standard hours and standard tasks for use by repair coordination group. Supports quotation and estimating needs
- Writes and processes paperwork required by position including: supplies requisitions, maintenance requisitions, labor reporting, yard clearance documents, etc.
- Leads production meetings with current status of work in process and provides input on schedule versus actual capacity
- Drives achievement and reports on KPIs
- Ensures working areas meet cleanliness and organizational standards
- Performs personnel management functions such as performance appraisals and development guidance
- Drives and ensure personnel training
- Drives continuous improvement, implements corrective actions for NCRs, leads and drives closure of CARS
- Ensures accountability of subordinates by creation of SOPs and other accountability methods
- Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide LEAN and EHS Management System which includes following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures. Supports and cooperates in company-wide Quality Management effort.
- Adheres to company and department policies, procedures, and standards
- Performs other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for on-time and on-standard performance of department
- Responsible for coworker discipline, hiring and firing with consultation with Cell Manager as needed
- Responsible for maintaining budget in department’s supply and tooling accounts
- Responsible for coordinating actions between various departments, including shipping, carpenter shop, and sandblast/paint shop
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 10 years experience in related environment, preferably working with pumps
- Proven leadership ability
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
