Job Description:

The Production Manager – Advanced Cryogenic Systems Manufacturing is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations for highly engineered cryogenic and precision electromechanical systems. 

This role owns day-to-day manufacturing execution, workforce capability, operational discipline, and performance outcomes in a technical production environment. 

 

This leader directly manages manufacturing employees and partners cross-functionally to ensure safe, high-quality, and on-time production. This role does not manage supervisors. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Operations Leadership 

  • Lead daily production operations for advanced cryogenic and precision electromechanical systems.

  • Own performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and labor effectiveness. 

  • Set production priorities, manage resource needs, and drive escalation and recovery actions. 

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, safety requirements, and operational procedures.

  • Maintain production discipline through clear expectations, standard work, and effective handoffs. 

 

Cross-Functional and Systems Leadership 

  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, Facilities, and other stakeholders to support production goals.

  • Support manufacturing readiness, product transitions, and build execution for complex technical products. 

  • Use production data and performance metrics to identify risks, remove barriers, and improve execution. 

  • Support adoption of manufacturing systems, tools, and standard work practices. 

  • Communicate production status, risks, and recovery plans to leadership and cross-functional partners. 

 

People Leadership & Organizational Capability 

  • Lead, coach, and develop manufacturing employees in a technical production environment. 

  • Establish clear expectations for safety, quality, workmanship, documentation, teamwork, and schedule execution. 

  • Support onboarding, training, cross-training, and skills development to build workforce capability. 

  • Promote an inclusive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment. 

  • Partner with Human Resources on staffing, employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning. 

 

Continuous Improvement & Performance Optimization 

  • Drive improvements in throughput, cycle time, first-pass quality, rework reduction, and productivity. 

  • Use structured problem solving and root cause analysis to address recurring operational issues. 

  • Improve workflow efficiency, production readiness, and operational discipline. 

  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and customer-focused execution. 

 

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Experience leading manufacturing teams in a production or technical operations environment. 

  • Experience managing production schedules, workforce resources, operational priorities, and performance metrics. 

  • Experience partnering with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, and other functions to resolve production constraints. 

  • Experience in semiconductor equipment, cryogenic systems, precision instrumentation, aerospace, medical device, advanced electronics, industrial automation, or related industries.

  • Experience with lean manufacturing, new product introduction, manufacturing readiness, or process improvement initiatives. 

 

Working Conditions / Additional Information:

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing and technical production environment. 

  • Position requires time on the production floor and interaction with engineering, quality, and testing organizations. 

  • May require support for urgent production priorities, issue escalation, and changing customer or business needs. 

  • Must follow applicable safety, quality, documentation, and operational requirements.

Pay Range:

$109,300.00 - $143,430.00

Pay Range Explained:

This role in Boulder, Colorado pays between $109,300.00 and $143,430.00 per year, depending on your experience, skills, and background. Pay may vary in other locations. We offer a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, a 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), and paid time off. You’ll also be eligible for quarterly profit-sharing bonuses and flexible spending or savings accounts.
