Qualastat Electronics, a Trexon Company, is a leading Aerospace and Defense assembly manufacturer in Chandler Arizona is seeking a Production Lead within our wire harness manufacturing plant, to be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Qualastat’s wire harness, fiber optic, and RF cable assembly production floor. This role requires exceptional organizational skills and leadership abilities to ensure the production of high-quality wire harness assemblies. This role ensures assemblies are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards and customer requirements. The Lead provides hands-on technical support, directs workflow, engages other departments as needed, and fosters a collaborative, high-performance culture. The position also supports training, scheduling, planning, problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives, serving as a key link between technicians and operations management The perfect candidate for this position will be reliable, have a good work ethic, be a team player, and take great pride in building assemblies that help keep America safe.
Weekly Schedule: Full time, 9/80 schedule
Week 1 - Mon-Fri 6:00a-2:00p Week 2 – Mon-Thurs 6:00a-4:00p
Pay: $22 to $26 per hour
Job Responsibilities
Functional Area 1: Production Oversight (50%)
- Lead daily production operations for wire harness, fiber optic, RF cable and other types of electronic assembly for a single production floor.
- Assign and prioritize tasks based on technician skills, production schedules, and workload.
- Monitor in-process work for compliance with quality and safety requirements.
- Provide real-time support and troubleshooting for assembly issues.
- Collaborate with Operations Manager and upper management to align capacity with delivery commitments.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to ensure product is being built correctly and efficiently.
- Track, document, and report daily/weekly/monthly production metrics and status updates for a single site under direction of Operations Manager
- Enforce company policies and promote a safe, organized work environment.
- Enforce compliance with AS9100, ISO9001, J-STD and IPC-WHMA, and customer requirements.
- Investigate non-conformances identified by quality, implement corrective actions, and reinforce “Do It Right the First Time” practices.
- Ensure product is being built in a timely fashion, while meeting delivery dates to customers and quality metrics, with under direction of Operations Manager. KPI’s: On-time-delivery (OTD), efficiency, non-conformance rates, etc.
Functional Area 2: Team Leadership, Training & Development (10%)
- Mentor and coach technicians to build skills and knowledge, under direction of management.
- Support onboarding and cross-training of new and existing employees, with help of engineering team and management.
- Provide constructive feedback and encourage professional development and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Identify areas of growth for team members, to help achieve company’s goals.
- Manage team time-cards, time off, etc. and communicate this to Operations Manager.
- Manage Performance Reviews for all on-site technicians, with assistance of Operations Manager.
- Identify areas of improvement in team’s/individual’s performance, address with Operations Manager.
Functional Area 3: Production Planning (10%)
- Assist in short- and long-range production planning to meet backlog and delivery goals.
- Anticipate workforce, tooling, and scheduling needs.
- Work with management to balance workloads and optimize resource allocation.
- Identify potential bottlenecks and propose solutions before they impact schedules.
- Proactively schedule, plan, pull material, and assign jobs to keep throughput steady, under direction of Operations Manager.
Functional Area 4: Floor & Equipment Support (10%)
- Maintain workstation organization, production floor cleanliness, availability and precision of tools, and material readiness.
- Coordinate with shipping/receiving and inventory for material flow.
- Support lean initiatives and continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency.
Functional Area 5: Shipping/Receiving Support (10%)
- Perform shipping and receiving tasks in absence of shipping clerk, or in times where multiple people are needed in this function
- Perform job preparation and kitting tasks in absence of shipping clerk, or in times where multiple people are needed in this function
Functional Area 6: Cross-Departmental Support (10%)
- Support quality team with tasks on an as-needed basis, such as tool calibration, etc.
- Support engineering team with tasks on an as-needed basis, such as formalizing manufacturing procedures from a redlined document, etc.
- Support various administrative tasks as needed.

Skills Required
- Three to five years of wire harness assembly experience
- Ability to read and understand drawings, drawing notes, and assembly procedures
- Perform precision soldering on electronic components and semi-rigid RF cable and/or fiber optic assemblies
- Assemble and fabricate wire harnesses and cable assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications
- Must know how to read and use a ruler/scale/tape measure/caliper
- Experience using Windows OS and MS Office
- Utilize hand tools, soldering irons, and other equipment for precise connections
- Conduct inspections and testing to verify quality and functionality of assemblies
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Must have own reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Must be able to read, speak, and write English
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
