The Production Lead provides leadership that fosters teamwork while coordinating daily activities; can perform the functions of Production Operator level 1, 2 & 3 positions; fills in for shift supervision as needed. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

Operations

  • Effectively coordinates and oversees day-to-day activities or work assignments as communicated by management or other established methods. Responsibilities may include problem solving; training employees; assigning, directing and checking work; addressing minor complaints and communicating information to management.
  • Accurately prepares, inputs and processes various reports, paperwork or other administrative duties in a timely manner.
  • Maintains expertise in Machine Data Transducer (MDT) for scheduling/deletion of jobs and completion of shift reports.
  • Covers for breaks and lunch of the operators, if needed.
  • Completes daily shift reports.
  • Ensures operators are properly completing operator checklists.
  • Ensures production operators and machine operators are properly performing QC line inspection requirements.
  • Documents results of quality control testing to correct process and material issues.
  • Assists with the training of operators or packers when needed.
  • Must maintain consistent and regular attendance.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Safety

  • Comply with the EHS Policy and applicable regulatory and company EHS rules and requirements.
  • Prompt reporting of any unsafe conditions, practices, or environmental concerns to supervision. Resolving potential hazards swiftly, thereby ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Attend scheduled EHS trainings.
  • Actively assist the organization in achieving or surpassing EHS goals. Identify areas for improvement in EHS practices and recommend enhancements to contribute to our commitment to a safe work environment.
  • Demonstrates safe work habits by adhering to general safety procedures, including correct techniques for lifting and bending, maintaining proper ergonomics, using equipment correctly, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Ensures strict adherence to all safety procedures, including the enforcement and discipline related to Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) procedures.

Product Safety and Quality

  • Follows Product Safety and Quality standards.
  • Follows GMP’s regarding food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee.
  • Follows IPC product defense standards and complies with all Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements (include education, experience, special skills, licenses and/or certifications required.)

  • High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED). Prior experience or training in a related field or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to take direction and understand written documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form.
  • Ability to understand simple mathematics, using addition, subtraction, fractions and decimals. Knowledge of metric system a plus.
  • Computer experience a plus.

Skills Required
