Production Labourer

Summary: 
Production Laborers perform general duties, varying depending on the specific department they are working in. Duties include operating basic hand tools, assisting machine operators, wrappers and welders. This position may involve operating a loader, overhead crane, or forklift. Housekeeping and material handling are also components of this position. The position may involve various shifts and overtime hours depending on the scope of work.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform general tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
• Handle materials – within the shop and outdoors as required.
• Assisting various machine operators in setup; moving materials in and out of the shop using overhead hoist and forklift.
• Operate basic hand tools and powered hand tools.
• Operate various equipment as described in company procedures.
• Assist in loading/unloading of pipe deliveries/pick-ups.
• Stacking/unstacking pipe adhering to strict procedures.
• Handling of various sizes of oilfield casing, which may include operation of a Loader, Overhead Crane and/or Forklift.
• Perform work safely and follow established work procedures.
• General shop cleaning.
• Adhere to health, safety and quality policies, as well as all company policies and procedures.
• Ensure work areas and clean and organized.
• Participate in training and safety meetings.
• Other duties as required.

Skills/Knowledge

• Able to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage time while working in a safe manner.
• Mechanically inclined, ability to use small hand tools and/or power tools.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work efficiently and independently as well as, part of a team.
• Strong aptitude to understand drawings.
• Able to follow and understand both oral and written instructions in English.
• Grade 12 basic math skills.

Education

• Grade 12 or GED preferred. Additional education past high school would be an asset.

Experience

• Certification in operating forklifts, overhead cranes, loaders and/or other yard equipment preferred.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing or similar environment preferred but not required.
