Tempsens is looking for a hands-on, experienced and result-oriented Production Head to lead manufacturing operations for RTDs, Thermocouples and Thermowells.
The role will be responsible for end-to-end production planning and execution, process improvement, quality, productivity, capacity utilization, inventory and RMC control, team development, and timely delivery. The position will also drive Lean Manufacturing, automation, process optimization and manufacturing excellence while ensuring technical and customer requirements are met.
The ideal candidate should combine strong shop-floor leadership and manufacturing expertise with the ability to drive continuous improvement, cross-functional coordination and operational transformation.
1. Production Planning & Execution
- Lead end-to-end production planning, scheduling and execution for RTD, Thermocouple and Thermowell manufacturing.
- Ensure adherence to production plans, TAT, delivery commitments and customer requirements.
- Monitor capacity utilization, productivity, OEE and production performance.
2. Production Process Management & Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, cycle time, throughput and resource utilization.
- Identify bottlenecks, downtime and process losses and implement corrective actions.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, VSM, line balancing and SMED initiatives.
- Drive automation, digitalization and Industry 4.0 initiatives wherever applicable.
3. RTD / Thermocouple / Thermowell Manufacturing
- Develop strong process control across RTD, Thermocouple and Thermowell manufacturing.
- Ensure effective manufacturing processes for contact temperature sensors.
- Oversee fabrication and machining processes involved in Thermowell manufacturing.
- Ensure appropriate process controls for welding, assembly, testing and inspection.
4. Manufacturing Technology
- Strong understanding of TIG, Laser and Micro-Plasma welding processes.
- Hands-on exposure to CNC, VMC and fabrication processes.
- Identify opportunities for automation and modernization of manufacturing processes.
- Utilize ERP/SAP systems for production planning, monitoring and reporting.
5. Quality & Technical Compliance
- Ensure consistent product quality and compliance with defined specifications and customer requirements.
- Work closely with Quality and Engineering teams to reduce defects, rework and rejection.
- Ensure compliance with relevant IEC, ASTM, ASME and other applicable standards, particularly for Thermowells.
- Support audits, customer inspections and technical evaluations.
6. Inventory & RMC Management
- Control Raw Material Consumption (RMC), WIP and finished goods inventory.
- Drive material-saving initiatives and optimize resource utilization.
- Coordinate with Purchase, Stores and Supply Chain teams to ensure uninterrupted production.
7. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and develop production, engineering and shop-floor teams.
- Build a culture of accountability, safety, quality and continuous improvement.
- Identify skill gaps and implement training and multi-skilling initiatives.
- Drive effective workforce planning and resource allocation.
8. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate closely with R&D, Engineering, Quality, Purchase, Stores, Sales, Supply Chain and Maintenance.
- Act as a key interface between production and senior management.
- Resolve production-related technical and operational issues through structured problem-solving.
- Strong knowledge of RTDs, Thermocouples and Thermowells.
- Strong manufacturing and shop-floor management experience.
- Proficiency in TIG, Laser and Micro-Plasma welding.
- Working knowledge of CNC, VMC and Thermowell fabrication processes.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and automated manufacturing.
- Experience in production planning, process optimization and productivity improvement.
- Strong leadership, decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Good analytical, communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Experience with ERP/SAP-based production planning and monitoring.
- Experience in the Instrumentation / Temperature Measurement Industry.
- Automobile / Automotive Engineering manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge of ASTM, IEC and ASME standards, particularly related to Thermowells.
- Exposure to Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing and manufacturing digitalization.
- Experience in NPD, prototyping, process engineering and product industrialization.
- Experience in plant modernization, automation and cost-reduction projects.
- Strong exposure to Lean / Six Sigma / Kaizen methodologies.
The ideal candidate will be a senior manufacturing professional with strong hands-on shop-floor experience, capable of managing both day-to-day production and long-term manufacturing improvement initiatives.
Candidates with experience in automotive / engineering component manufacturing, R&D, NPD, process engineering and large-scale manufacturing transformation will be preferred, provided they demonstrate the ability to quickly understand and manage RTD, Thermocouple and Thermowell manufacturing processes.
Skills Required
- 15+ years of experience, preferably in the instrumentation industry or engineering manufacturing
- B.Tech or B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering
- Strong knowledge of RTDs, thermocouples, and thermowells
- Strong manufacturing and shop-floor management experience
- Proficiency in TIG, laser, and micro-plasma welding
- Working knowledge of CNC, VMC, and thermowell fabrication processes
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and automated manufacturing
- Experience in production planning, process optimization, and productivity improvement
- Experience with ERP or SAP-based production planning and monitoring
- Strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, analytical, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills
- MBA
- Instrumentation or temperature measurement industry experience
- Automobile or automotive engineering manufacturing experience
