The Details…
The Production Quality Engineer will support the delivery and maintenance of effective quality practices across Production Engineering. The role will support the investigation and closure of NCRs and CAPAs, assist in addressing yield and quality issues within production and help ensure inspection and quality activities are carried out in line with defined requirements. Working with the wider Engineering team, production supply chain and QARA, the Quality Engineer will support timely investigation of quality issues, contribute to root cause analysis and assist with the implementation of corrective and preventive actions. The role will also support the use of defined inspection instructions, acceptance criteria and data capture methods to enable consistent and compliant quality decision making.
Key Responsibilities
To support Production Engineering with day-to-day quality engineering activities across the business. Support the investigation, root cause analysis and closure of NCRs and CAPAs. Assist with continuous improvement activities aimed at defect reduction and yield improvement. Act as a supporting quality interface between Production Engineering and the wider business.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Support the investigation of internal NCRs using structured root cause analysis techniques (e.g. 5-why, fishbone etc.).
- Support the management of CAPAs, including implementing actions and supporting effectiveness checks.
- Support the execution and maintenance of goods in inspection processes, including:
- Maintenance and support of defined inspection plans and work instructions
- Monitoring acceptance and rejection criteria
- Analysis of inspection outcomes
- Collect and analyse quality data to support identification of trends and improvement opportunities
- Support internal and external audits, including ISO13485 audits, and assist with closure of audit actions.
- Lead and support change control activities by ensuring quality actions are implemented and documented correctly.
- Participate in risk assessment activities (including DFMEA and PFMEA) under guidance from senior Engineering or Quality staff.
- Support initiatives that contribute to a proactive quality culture within Engineering and Production.
- Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring all company and regulatory standards are met at all times.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties within the remit and responsibilities of the post.
What we’re looking for…
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar subject.
- Awareness of ISO9001 and ISO13485 quality management systems.
- Experience working in a Quality Engineering or Manufacturing Quality Environment.
- Experience supporting NCR/ CAPA investigations and corrective actions.
- Experience operating within a regulated or controlled manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with electromechanical devices.
- Understanding of basic quality Engineering and problem-solving principles.
- Awareness of root cause analysis techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
- Competent in MS office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)
