JOB SUMMARY
The Production Engineer reports to Operations Leader, supports daily manufacturing operations by improving productivity, reducing downtime, supporting production troubleshooting, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across assembly and machining areas, heavily demands over 70% of the time spent on the shop floor. This role works closely with Team Leaders, Process Engineering, and Operations Leadership to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency performance. Additionally, the role provides limited coordination support for preventive maintenance activities and spare parts tracking to support equipment reliability in a growing manufacturing environment.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Operations Support (60%)
- Provide daily engineering support to assembly and machining operations.
- Troubleshoot production-related issues to minimize downtime and improve output.
- Support shift operations in achieving safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets.
- Monitor production flow and identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
- Assist Team Leaders with technical and operational problem-solving.
Continuous Improvement (10%)
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, waste reduction, and efficiency improvement.
- Work closely with the Process Specialist for the Lean and Kaizen Initiatives.
- Analyze production data and recommend corrective actions.
- Improve labor utilization, workflow, and cycle times.
- Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives.
- Develop and maintain visual management tools and production metrics.
Process & Documentation Support (10%)
- Support implementation and sustainment of standardized work instructions and operating procedures.
- Work closely with the Process Specialist to ensure process compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Support training and process consistency on the production floor.
- Assist with production readiness for new processes, tooling, or equipment changes.
Equipment Reliability Support (Approx. 10%)
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules with production and external service providers.
- Track equipment downtime and recurring mechanical issues.
- Support basic spare parts inventory tracking and organization.
- Escalate major equipment reliability concerns leadership.
- Assist with equipment setup, installation, and operational readiness.
Quality & Safety Support (10%)
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions related to production issues.
- Promote safe work practices and compliance with company safety standards.
- Participate in safety, quality, and operational improvement activities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Experience
- 3–5 years of manufacturing or production engineering experience preferred.
- Experience supporting machining and assembly environments preferred.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement tools preferred.
