Husqvarna Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Production Planner to join our Planning Team at our Columbia, SC location. This role is responsible for developing efficient production schedules, coordinating material requirements, and maintaining optimal inventory levels. As a key contributor to our operations, you will help ensure top-tier customer service through effective inventory planning and communication.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Planning & Execution (50%)
- Process work orders based on forecasts, inventory targets, and customer demand.
- Monitor safety stock and reorder points to ensure material availability.
- Generate work orders from non-stock requests, AS400 downloads, and backorder reports.
- Create Hot Sheets for Manufacturing Departments.
Issue Resolution & Cross-Functional Communication (20%)
- Resolve material shortages, substitutions, and capacity conflicts.
- Process substitution requests and deviations with Engineering as needed.
- Coordinate with Buyers, Customer Solutions, and Production teams regarding potential raw material shortages.
- Follow up daily on production plans and delivery timelines.
Reporting & Administrative Support (30%)
- Generate and print daily reports: inventory status, production schedules, backlogs, and more.
- Process, print, and distribute work orders.
- Support daily/weekly production meetings with real-time data and updates.
- Maintain master data, BOMs, and planning parameters in AS/400 and SAP.
- Assist fellow Production Planners and respond promptly to internal or customer planning inquiries.

Required Skills & Knowledge
- Experience with AS/400 PRMS or similar legacy ERP systems (preferred).
- Strong understanding of MRP logic, inventory control, and capacity planning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (advanced formulas and pivot tables).
- Accurate and efficient data entry.
- Familiarity with Lean or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Education & Experience
- 3+ years of production planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
- SAP (PP/MM modules) experience a plus.
- CPIM or ASCM/APICS certification a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Office-based role with regular exposure to warehouse/manufacturing environments.
- Heavy computer use across ERP systems (AS/400, SAP, Excel).
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and multiple concurrent priorities.
