Product Manager, Promotion and Monetization Tools

San Diego, CA

This position reports to a Manager of Product Management in the Monetization organization for Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). One of the primary functions of the SIE Monetization Product Management team is to develop, operate and grow the PlayStation online retail business through monetization and engagement opportunities across many digital channels including PlayStation® Store.

This role focuses on building the experiences used by SIE and Game developers and Publishers to create, manage and publish price promotions on the SIE retail sales channels. The goal of this role is to grow the SIE business through generating promotional value through new consumer offerings and engagement with content creators.

Responsibilities: 

Line manage a team of product managers in order to: 

  • Own and evangelize the vision and strategy for the PlayStation Partners: Promotions application.
  • Lead product definition of new and existing promotions offerings and the tools and processes to drive them.
  • Be responsible for the backlog of initiatives and features and drive prioritization.
  • Work closely with key internal global business partners to elicit requirements for new functionality.
  • Partner with Program Management as they supervise delivery, manage timelines, resolve blockers and risks.
  • Support User Experience in the design of new functionality
  • Partner with Business Analysts to define business logic and requirements
  • Partner with Product Owners and Engineering leads to prepare stories for delivery
  • Interface with engineering teams to clearly convey requirements and provide insight into business rationale/benefits, including presenting at large planning events
  • Ensure features are backed by important metrics, and that success is measured on an ongoing basis.

Requirements:

  • BA/​BS Degree​ or equivalent
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a product management or related role, ideally focused online commerce pricing and promotions
  • Exceptional product management skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to present ideas to large audiences.
  • Must be self-motivated and results oriented.
  • Ability to travel for key stakeholder meetings

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A good level of working knowledge of online commerce tools and practices.
  • Experience in digital pricing, promotions and marketing
  • Experience in the agile software development process
  • Experience with digital supply chain systems/process (any content types) and/or e-commerce solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and project team members to further the business objectives of our products and services 
  • Excellent written, verbal and social skills - You will be interacting with all types of people (user experience designers, engineers, managers, clients, etc.) 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, multiple project environment on an independent basis and with minimal supervision 
  • Knowledge of movie, music and video game service and software industries, business models and markets including competing services is helpful but not required
  • Must be able to provide examples of prior work (requirements documents, user stories, wireframes, user flows, etc)
