As the Head of Product for Maps experiences, you will own and drive the roadmap, and lead a team of product leads and product managers, for building the most engaging and compelling experiences for our drivers, riders, couriers, and eaters. With our unique and scalable technical stack, you will launch competitive differentiators that will grow Uber as the preferred platform of choice for our customers. You will lead with deep customer empathy, and rely on data and user research to make informed decisions with solid product instincts. You will lead the teams and initiatives responsible for the 'bread and butter' of every Uber trip or delivery - how riders select or refine their pickup and dropoff location when requesting a ride, how drivers and couriers navigate from point A → B, the map display "canvas" for Uber and all the last 100-meter experiences that make Uber's trip experiences unique.
These core trip experiences (and ML-powered platforms underneath) set the foundation to answer complex questions like: How do we build a scalable, personalized experience that determines and serves the best navigation, pickup & drop-off locations across all Uber products (riders, drivers/couriers, eaters, bikers, and freight users)? How do we improve our understanding of user location accuracy (walking/in-train/stationary, side of the street, in-door/out-door, localization, etc)? How do we best communicate location information and pickup/dropoff points meaningfully to all consumers? And more.
What the Candidate Will Do:

  • You'll work as the Head of Product for these core A -> B experiences, while also liaising with Engineering, UXR, Design, Business Development, Legal, Data science, Central and Regional Operations, Marketing, and many other cross-org teams to deliver magical experiences. The role demands strong customer centricity, UX/UI proficiency, technical depth, principled thinking, well-honed product instincts, a refusal to settle, true innovation, and a high-quality bar for what goes out to the world.
  • Create and deliver on coherent product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the core trip experiences - Pickup and Drop Off, Navigation, and Map Display at Uber.
  • Own the Pickup and Dropoff experiences vision, reducing friction/time during requesting a ride, and personalization of Pickup/Dropoff for all mobility products.
  • Own the Uber Core Navigation vision enabling millions of drivers and couriers to earn in a stress-free safe and efficient manner.
  • Own the roadmap for last-mile experiences across rides and deliveries. Internalize and deeply understand Uber's products like Pool, UberX, Eats and how they rely on core pickup and dropoff platform and then align your team's mission and roadmap with this direction
  • Drive strategic partnerships with third parties and evaluate build vs. buy trade-offs to build unique core trip and last-mile experiences.
  • Drive cross-functional team to set qualitative objectives and quantitative goals by analyzing data from user research, observability, diagnostics, and benchmarking.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of product management experience delivering highly successful and innovative products with your fingerprints all over them -- and you're deeply proud of what you've accomplished
  • Leadership and management - You enjoy coaching, empowering, and growing product teams. You invest in mentoring colleagues beyond your direct reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • User experience advocate - You deeply care about your users and relentlessly innovate for them.
  • Data informed - You use analytics to evaluate tradeoffs and drive prioritization.
  • You are an excellent communicator, and proactive at collaborating effectively with key cross-functional partners.
  • Innovate at a high pace - You love solving problems that haven't been explored before and you believe in fast learning and experimentation.
  • Maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and a thirst for learning
  • You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and take on something hands-on.
  • Experience with scaled logistics mobile products (Last-mile delivery, etc.)
  • Experience managing and growing people managers.
