As the Product Owner for the Universe system, you will lead an agile team of developers and quality testers to design and deliver new products, product enhancements, new internal functionality and fixes to exiting functionality for the Universe pharmacy adjudication system.
Product Owners are the primarily liaison between the business and technology and are responsible for reviewing and assessing the value of prioritized business requests, working with subject matter experts to fully understand the concept or business need, and then translating those product and project ideas into technical stories for development and testing.
In this role, you will coordinate regularly with leadership and Enterprise Practice Management (ePRMO) to discuss incoming requests that have been prioritized by the business. You will be responsible for vetting requests and confirming a solid description of each request with sufficient detail to begin defining requirements for development. You will also be responsible for working directly with various subject matter experts throughout the organization to validate business requirements and translate those requirements into stories for agile development and testing. You will manage a backlog of work that should include all new projects that will be picked up for development within a rolling 3 month period, and will provide consistent ongoing updates on the backlog and active projects to the business via ePRMO.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with Strategy leadership to develop and deliver the organization's pharmacy roadmap
  • Think strategically to translate a vision of customer experience to processes and requirements
  • Interact with internal stakeholders and occasionally clients to understand and capture functional and technical requirements, translating business needs to technical needs
  • Preparation of presentations with the inclusion of feasibility studies as well as proof of concept delivery
  • Develop presentations and help facilitate decisions with a wide range of stakeholders each with different priorities
  • Forecast revenue or savings opportunities associated with product development initiatives
  • Review proposed priority list from ePRMO bi-weekly and participate in priority review with stakeholders
  • Work with ePRMO to set/update stage for all accepted dev requests led by your team and ensure target and actual dates for milestones in Salesforce is accurate
  • Support in project managing tech strategy and infrastructure projects - from design to development and implementation
  • Troubleshooting critical issues and bring a calm presence to facilitate issue resolution
  • Support the development of market and sales strategies and value proposition
  • Serve as a strategic knowledge resource facilitating the delivery of capabilities and functionality to support long term Business and product objectives
  • Manage cross-segment projects and initiatives that require problem solving, relationship building, influencing, and analyzing
  • Navigate and influence multiple cross-functional teams in a complex, matrix work environment
  • Partner with key functional areas to ensure high performance in all areas - operations, clinical value, reporting/measurement, etc.
  • Build effective relationships with vendor partners, customers, product partners across Optum, and other internal stakeholder groups
  • Write requirements/stories for all projects, creates acceptance criteria
  • Support team during ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-up calls to track progress, and demonstrations of new functionality for each sprint to an audience of stakeholders across the organization

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business communications, technology or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience developing business requirements, reviewing technical design and validating testing results
  • 2+ of years of experience managing/coordinating projects through entire project development life cycle
  • Professional communication skills - experience presenting to/writing for c-level, vendor partners and/or clients, and articulating details based on audience
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
