In this new role, you will be part of our Product Verification Engineering team. You will be responsible for writing and executing testing cases and doing UI automated tests using our in-house developed python testing framework to test our latest radiotherapy systems. We closely collaborate with other engineering locations of Varian, mainly at our R&D sites in Budapest, Hungary, Baden, Switzerland and Palo Alto, United States.

Description

  • Performs automation software testing using systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for treatment delivery products.
  • Develops, modifies, and executes automation software test plans.
  • Helps manage and drive test schedule and related activities.
  • Performs hands-on installation and configuration of Hardware and Software components for verification and validation test environments.
  • Executes test cases in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Identifies and clearly documents encountered software defects.
  • Works closely with other testers and developers to coordinate test efforts and to resolve issues.
  • Maintains documentation of test results to assist in debugging and modification of software.
  • Analyzes test results to ensure existing functionality and recommends corrective actions.
  • Consults with development engineers in resolution of problems.
  • Ensures quality system integration into the overall function of scientific computation, data acquisition, and processing. 
  • Analyses and reviews product specifications (e.g product requirement, system, functional, and design specifications) to ensure product quality, safety, reliability, and testability.
  • Perform product testing independently in test labs and test cell environments.
  • Travels to off-site test locations (Varian company offices or hospitals, located domestically or internationally) occasionally and performs product testing.

Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong programming skills, preferably in python and experience working with .NET framework.
  • Ability to demonstrate solid Object-Oriented Programming knowledge.
  • Proficiency in TFS (Azure) is a plus.
  • Professional work experience in testing of software.
  • Experience with Medical device testing in software/hardware integration is highly desired.
  • Strong knowledge of software testing methodology, industry standard testing, and bug tracking tools.
  • Good written and verbal communication (English), and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work on assigned tasks under tight time constraints.
  • Ability to do computer tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle.
  • Can travel to off-site test locations (domestic and international) and perform product testing.
  • Experience in a clinical radiation oncology environment and working knowledge of Varian products (Treatment Planning, information systems, treatment delivery systems) are highly desired.

Typical Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science (or a related technical field) and 5+ years of related working experience
  • Or Masters Degree in Computer Science (or a related technical field) with 3+ years of related working experience.

The base pay range for this position is:

$115,980 - $159,478

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
