Group/Division

The KLA Services team consists of Service Sales, Marketing, Spares Supply Chain Management, Field Operations, Engineering, Product Training, Digital Solutions and Analytics, and Technical Product Support. Our services organization maximizes the value of our customers' KLA assets – with highly trained service and product support engineers providing installation services and 24/7 technical support and parts delivery through our extensive supply chain network.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.


You'll be joining the Service team as part of the Product Support Organization (PSO). As a New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer – (Product Support) and you will play a key role in the introduction of new products across SPTS's Etch, PVD, CVD, and Release Etch product portfolios.


Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Global Service teams, you will help ensure successful product deployment, service readiness, and seamless transition into sustaining support.

In this role, you will engage with multi-functional teams around the world to develop a plan to service these new products in the field.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Reduce program serviceability risk by acting as the Voice of Service throughout the Product Life Cycle (PLC) for new products by developing a service strategy that encompasses: Cost of Service Modeling, Reliability Modeling, Retrofits, Intellectual Property protections, calibrations, and PM Optimizations 
  • Build solid expertise in overall system operation, integration, and calibrations/diagnostics with a hands-on approach by learning from Tech Support Engineers and Design Engineers to better support Alpha & Beta Systems as well as retrofits. 
  • Start building a detailed Product Support Plan (PSP), Service Readiness Review (SRR), Design For Service (DFS) and Cost Of Service (COS) models, by working with engineering, marketing, finance, and service that details KLA’s strategy for supporting new products.  
  • Develop product service education and knowledge across the Product Support Organization using training classes, Augmented Reality (AR), individual coaching, documents, and other knowledge capture tools to elevate your co-worker’s readiness to serve. 
  • Conduct spares obsolescence risk analysis and coordinate with the Spares Planning team to build and start initiatives that mitigate Service supply chain risk, including closing known issues and collaboration with GSS Engineering and Operation team. 
  • Contribute to the service alert meetings and Plan of Action (POA) development for critical issues and other sustaining activities. Capture and document Best Known Method (BKM) and other improvements into knowledge database. 
  • Work closely with cross-divisional NPI Best Practice Team to improve and develop existing BKMs by participating in discussions, conducting training, and providing feedback. 
  • Actively manage and support beta installs in-person by auditing procedures, updating existing documents, identifying training gaps, and solving unforeseen problems as they arise to drive continuous improvement for future installs and upgrades. 

Experience and Qualifications


  • Ideally hold a MSc or BSc level Degree with relevant work experience.
  • Experience in a Systems/Electrical/Mechanical or NPI/Process Engineer role.
  • Strong analytic and data analysis skills.
  • Knowledge or experience with industry standard problem solving methodologies and models.
  • Motivated by helping others succeed, enjoys teaching, troubleshooting, working with groups of people, and explaining sophisticated things as simply as possible.

Occasional domestic and international travel (up to 30%), including to the United States, may be required as part of this role
