The Role

A position at FTI can be the answer to your future career. In this role, you’ll be part of a progressive national leader in electrical planning, engineering, technology and energy services. FTI enables employee growth and success through industry-leading training and development, utilization of the latest industry technologies, and an uncompromised focus on safety. We recognize and reward top performers, offering competitive, merit-based compensation, career path development and a flexible and robust benefits package that boasts everything from paid training and tuition reimbursement to an award-winning wellness program.

The Product Support Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring that serviceability, reliability, and aftermarket strategy are embedded into the DNA of product development. This role begins as a hands-on contributor, working directly with engineering and product development teams to analyze product performance, develop service strategies, and translate engineering BOMs into service BOMs. Over time, this individual will grow and lead a team of product support engineers to drive predictive maintenance initiatives, optimize spare parts programs, and influence product design through real-world field data. By collaborating closely with design engineers and cross-functional partners, this role helps fulfill our purpose—building trust through products that power society—while embodying our cultural principles of continuous improvement, problem-solving at the source, and developing the capabilities of others.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Reliability), Engineering Management, or related field.

Experience: 5+ years of experience in product support, reliability engineering, or design engineering with exposure to service or aftermarket operations. 2+ years of experience working cross-functionally with product design or field service teams.

  • Familiarity with reliability engineering principles and tools such as RCM, FMEA, LORA, and MTA analysis preferred.
  • Experience developing or managing service BOMs and working within PLM systems preferred.
  • Understanding of spare parts logistics, service operations, and field feedback loops preferred.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools, data analysis platforms, and engineering documentation systems preferred.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a passion for continuous improvement and developing others preferred.

Travel: up to 25% depending on business needs

Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with product design and engineering teams to ensure products are developed with serviceability and reliability in mind.
  • Analyze product field performance and failure modes using historical and predictive data to inform design improvements and maintenance strategies.
  • Coordinate Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) activities such as Failure Mode Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), and Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) to translate design engineering bills of materials (eBOMs) into service BOMs (sBOMs), ensuring effective documentation and part traceability.
  • Develop and implement service and spare parts strategies that reduce total cost of ownership and improve aftermarket support.
  • Grow and lead a high-performing team of product support engineers and analysts over time.
  • Design maintenance tasks and field-service plans that align with reliability insights and operational realities.
  • Use systematic thinking to identify gaps and create solutions that improve service quality and efficiency.
  • Apply learning organization principles by stopping to fix problems at the source, developing others, and driving knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

The job description and responsibilities described are intended to provide guidelines for job expectations and the employee's ability to perform the position described. It is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all functions, responsibilities, skills, and abilities. Additional functions and requirements may be assigned by supervisors as deemed appropriate.
