Product Strategy Leader – Construction Equipment (CE) Attachments

Salina, KS 

Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Product Strategy Leader to shape and lead the global strategy for Kubota Construction Equipment attachments. This role is designed for a seasoned product strategy professional with deep construction equipment, attachment, or compact equipment market experience who can translate competitive insight, customer needs, and dealer feedback into a winning product portfolio. The leader will guide the global Kubota CE attachment strategy, strengthen market share, and improve customer satisfaction across the Compact Construction Equipment segment.

This position is well suited for an experienced product strategy leader who understands the compact construction equipment market, attachment applications, dealer channels, and the competitive landscape. The ideal candidate brings a proven ability to evaluate market gaps, convert customer and dealer insight into product direction, and lead cross-functional teams through disciplined portfolio planning and new product execution.

This position is ideally based on-site in Salina, KS; however, remote flexibility may be considered based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and ability to effectively support teams, dealers, and global stakeholders. Some domestic and international travel will be required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead segment definition and strategy for GPM and Kubota branded CE Attachments.
  • Grow and develop a highly functional and integrated strategy team.
  • Lead and participate in Global initiatives to commonize and expand the Kubota CE Attachment portfolio.
  • Provide application leadership and liaison to the Kubota power unit strategy definition through defined Stage Gate processes.
  • Lead a team of Product Managers to Discover and Define market requirements and business needs for assigned product lines.
  • Define and lead the strategy for gathering, analyzing, and applying industry, customer, dealer, and competitive information to identify product gaps, prioritize portfolio opportunities, and address market needs for assigned product lines.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through a well-defined Stage Gate process to deliver new products to market.
  • Identify need for new product development and existing product improvements within assigned product line. Guide engineering and product development from a voice of customer standpoint. 
  • Lead efforts to define and maintain market-based pricing for the assigned product lines.
  • Lead the new product development cycle by monitoring and supporting schedule management and communication is occurring for effective and proactive development of new products. 
  • Act as a voice of the customer by surveying customers and dealers for product requirements and market trends. Identify market potential of uncovered segments and customer groups. 
  • Provide information and training to dealers and sales personnel, highlighting features and competitive advantages of new and existing products within assigned product line to increase product knowledge and sales. 
  • Attend trade shows, sales meetings, and dealer meetings to promote assigned product line.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to initiative development (up to 30%).
  • Follow all Great Plains MFG policies and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment.
  • Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; with advanced degrees in management or strategy being a plus.
  • 15 to 20+ years of experience leading product strategy, product management, portfolio planning, or market development for an off-highway equipment OEM, attachment manufacturer, compact construction equipment company, or related supplier.
  • Demonstrated ability to use competitive intelligence, market segmentation, customer needs analysis, and portfolio economics to define product strategy and guide investment decisions.
  • Computer proficiency in Word processing, Internet, Email, Spreadsheets, Software Concepts, Hardware, Presentations, Graphics, and Multimedia.
  • Available to travel up to 30%; may involve some international travel.

Skills Required

  • Demonstrated ability to use competitive intelligence, market segmentation, customer needs analysis, and portfolio economics to define product strategy.
  • Bachelor's degree; advanced degree in management or strategy is a plus.
  • Computer proficiency in word processing, email, internet, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, and multimedia.
