Expected Length of Internship: 

  • Positions available for 2027 Spring semesters, in First Solar’s Perrysburg, OH Manufacturing and Technology Center (near Toledo). 

Education/Experience:

  • Graduate/Undergraduate students preferably in an analytical or technical field (Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, etc.)

  • Overall G.P.A. greater than or equal to 3.00 (based upon 4.0 scale). 

  • First Solar encourages all interns to register their internship with their university.

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written communication

  • Flexible, adaptable, and eager to learn emerging AI technologies and business applications

  • Proficiency in financial modeling, data analytics, and AI-enabled business insights

  • Ability to conduct market research, analyze large datasets, and identify key trends, policy impacts, and opportunities

  • Strong business acumen and ability to engage effectively with stakeholders

  • Demonstrates an analytical and solution-oriented approach to problem solving

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, including Copilot 

  • Proficiency in Python, data visualization, dashboard development, and workflow automation

  • Experience building AI assistants, chatbots, or knowledge management solutions to improve business insights and decision-making

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required

  • Ability to travel within the U.S. & Canada

Basic Internship Scope (Project):

  • Develop an understanding of First Solar's business model, technology landscape, and AI-enabled analytics environment.

  • Participate in the internship program and role-specific training and development.

  • Support and manage engagements with 3rd-party consultants, data providers, and intelligence platforms.

  • Work collaboratively with multiple departments across First Solar.

  • Participate in, or lead, meetings with First Solar staff and stakeholders.

  • Work with experienced professionals in the performance of responsibilities; check in regularly with assigned mentor.

  • Lead a minimum of one AI enabled business intelligence, market strategy, or project-finance focused project with end-of-term reporting; potential projects could include:

 

  • Build and deploy dashboards, AI assistants, or automated intelligence tools that put key data and insights at stakeholders' fingertips

  • Build, run, and interpret financial models, scenario analyses, and market sensitivities using AI-enhanced workflows

  •  Develop and maintain knowledge bases, market intelligence repositories, or AI copilots that deliver accurate, actionable insights while minimizing hallucinations

  • Leverage third-party intelligence, market data, and AI tools to provide best in- class intel and policy impacts on First Solar’s business.

  • Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and business impact to the leadership team.

Estimated Salary Range:

  • $22.00 - $25.00/hr

US Physical Requirements: 

  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
  • Will lift, push or pull up to 37 pounds on an occasional basis. 
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in both eyes together, with or without correction, is required.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards, and a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair) for those requiring respirator use.
