Printpack is seeking qualified candidates for the Product Stewardship Engineer II (Sustainability Packaging Engineer II) position. This role is focused on product development for sustainable flexible packaging. The Product Stewardship Engineer reports to the Product Stewardship Manager within the Sustainability Department and is located in Atlanta, GA, but other major metropolitan areas will be considered.

Requirements:
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science/Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, or a closely affiliated degree program preferred.

  • Experience in the flexible packaging industry is preferred.

  • Experience in product development, particularly in sustainability-focused technologies.

  • BOPP/PET/PE films, adhesives, extrusion, and ink experience is a plus

  • Travel commitment:  35% (typically within North America, for trials/meetings at customer, vendor, and Printpack plants).

  • Project management skills, perseverance, and initiative are imperative for success in this role.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Design and execute sustainable packaging solutions for key markets, managing projects from concept to completion within assigned timelines and meeting defined objectives

  • Serve as a Sustainability Subject Matter Expert (SME) by participating in SME teams, developing recommendation lists for sustainable materials and platform structures, and creating Standard Operating Conditions (SOCs)

  • Plan, support, and troubleshoot internal trials cross-functionally, utilizing internal systems and collaborating cross-functionally

  • Provide customer-facing technical support through presentations, innovation sessions, and risk-assessed technical guidance

  • Actively engage in industry leadership by participating in sustainability conferences and contributing to Industry Working Groups

  • Lead internal knowledge sharing through webinars, presentations to cross-functional teams, and sharing industry trends/learnings

  • Support cross-functional commercialization efforts by understanding commercialization requirements, legal matters (NDAs, IP, legislation), sustainable industry requirements, and providing technical guidance throughout the process
