Product Specialist
Position Overview:
We are seeking a technically minded professional to join our team as a Product Specialist for our flagship IP Management System, Equinox Law Firm+. In this role, you will design and implement tailored technical solutions, configure systems to meet client-specific requirements, and apply basic coding or scripting where appropriate. You will collaborate closely with clients during onboarding projects: leading workshops, translating business needs into technical solutions, and ensuring successful implementation. Beyond onboarding, you will support live clients through proactive configuration, ad hoc enhancements, and technical problem-solving. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering technology-driven solutions that create impact for our clients.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Technical Expertise & Implementation
- Become a subject matter expert in our flagship IP Management System, Equinox Law Firm+
- Design, configure, and implement technical solutions tailored to client requirements during onboarding projects.
- Perform quality assurance testing to ensure accuracy and reliability of solutions before deployment.
- Client Engagement & Collaboration
- Lead and participate in client workshops to gather requirements and validate proposed solutions.
- Collaborate with project team members to deliver seamless and successful implementations.
- Ongoing Support & Continuous Improvement
- Provide proactive technical support and system configuration for live clients.
- Carry out ad hoc configuration tasks and enhancements as needed.
- Contribute to internal initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field or equivalent work experience required. The role demands a combination of IP and technical proficiency and strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and team members:
- Technically minded individual with experience in technology gained through professional work, academic studies or a combination
- 2+ years’ experience with software configuration or equivalent technical role desired but not mandatory
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook and similar productivity tools
- Knowledge of computer programming, database structures desired but not mandatory
- Technical skills detailed :
- HTML & CSS: important as these form the basis of outgoing templates from Equinox; confidence in working with HTML source code of the templates would allow greater independence.
- SQL/MySQL: beneficial for data handling; candidates with a basic coding background can learn quickly.
- Twig templating (based on PHP): this is the templating language we use for expressions; easy to learn with general programming experience.
- UML or similar diagramming tools: valuable for process mapping and solution design.
- Whilst not strictly a technical skill, understanding IP workflows and patent filing processes supports better client engagement and workflow design. But it's niche.
- Excellent written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact diplomatically with all levels of law firm and corporate personnel
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Articulating complex technical concepts in an understandable way to clients and stakeholders
- Adjusting to new challenges and changes in technology or project requirements swiftly
- Spoken English: fluent, with strong oral communication skills.
