Purpose of Position:

The Product Specialist – Machine Guidance plays a critical role in enabling the global success of Hexagon's Machine Guidance portfolio by combining technical expertise, product validation, field deployment knowledge, and cross-functional collaboration. This role ensures our drilling, loading, and dozing guidance products deliver measurable value to customers through high performance, usability, and reliability.

Machine Guidance solutions are central to improving design compliance, digging accuracy, production efficiency, and real-time linkage between mine plans and in-field execution. This role ensures that new features, releases, and hardware integrations meet quality expectations and support operational excellence at mine sites worldwide.

Major Areas of Responsibility:
  • Product Validation & Quality Assurance

    • Conduct internal bench testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and structured validation of new Machine Guidance features and releases.
    • Manage and coordinate field trials (alpha, beta, and production trials) - including site selection, test planning, and results analysis to ensure new capabilities meet customer and product performance requirements.
    • Provide detailed feedback to Product Management and Engineering to drive continuous improvement and rapid iteration.

    Deployment Support & Regional Enablement

    • Mentor and upskill regional Services, Support, and Deployment teams on new releases, capabilities, workflows, and troubleshooting techniques.
    • Support escalated or complex field issues requiring deep product knowledge.
    • Contribute to pre-deployment readiness activities including configuration checks, documentation updates, and test procedures.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Work closely with Product Managers, Engineering, QA, Technical Writers, Customer Success, and Deployment teams to ensure alignment across the product lifecycle.
    • Participate in the Hexagon Innovation Process (HIP) to represent customer interests and ensure commercially viable product outcomes.
    • Contribute technical expertise to RFP responses and complex sales opportunities, working closely with Product Management and Business Development teams.

    Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Collect field insights, customer requirements, and system use cases to inform roadmap discussions and product strategy.
    • Support investigations and complex issue resolution by helping interpret system behavior and operational data.

    Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

    • Lead the creation, review, and maintenance of release notes, technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and installation workflows.
    • Promote knowledge reuse and best-practice sharing across global teams.
    Key Challenges
    • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of evolving Machine Guidance technologies in a fast-moving mining technology landscape.
    • Validatinghighly complex, hardware-integrated systems across diverse mining environments.
    • Ensuring regional teams are consistently trained and capable of successful deployments.
    • Balancing customer expectations, technical constraints, and commercial timelines.

Knowledge and Experience - Required:
  • Experience in mining technology, machine guidance, fleet management, or industrial applications engineering.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills with hardware + software systems.
  • Experience with field deployment, UAT, or structured testing environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to support customers or technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to contribute to or interpret technical documentation.
  • Understanding of GPS/GNSS, sensors, in-cab hardware, or real-time data systems.
  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent industry experience).
Knowledge and Experience - Desired:
  • Exposure to open-pit mining operations or heavy equipment guidance systems.
  • Familiarity with Linux or Windows configuration in technical environments.
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Salesforce, or test management systems.
  • Previous experience conducting field trials or validation testing.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, or Bahasa Indonesia is highly advantageous.
Travel:
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to mine sites, customer locations, or regional offices as needed (typically up to ~30%).
