Job Summary

As a Product Quality and Reliability Engineer you will part of Semiconductor Products Group (SPG) Quality group supporting Imaging and Process Control (IPC) Business Unit. You will be part of (or lead as appropriate) Quality and Reliability Engineering projects in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, and work with development engineers to ensure proliferation of Design For Reliability (DFR) methods into our stream of new product developments. You will complete the reliability analysis for new products and plan the reliability validation tests. You will also ensure sufficient definition and implementation of AMAT quality controls at the supplier and AMAT manufacturing centers.

Major Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, from a reliability standpoint, the materials, properties and techniques used in design and manufacturing by AMAT and AMAT's suppliers.
  • Analyzes non-conformance and failure rate data using advanced business analytics to focus and prioritize the Q&R projects and prepare management reports.
  • Reviews Engineering Change Requests for their impact on Quality and Reliability (Q&R). 
  • Develops, applies, revises, maintains and/ or tests quality/reliability standards to ensure alignment with customer expectations.
  • Designs and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the quality/ reliability of components and assemblies for IPC products.  
  • Develops, implements quality/ reliability test plans and performs failure analysis. Drives 8D and FA projects towards successful implementation of solutions.
  • Perform FMECA, document CRAMS (component reliability) and work with suppliers and design engineers to enable CRAMS test plans.
  • Reliability modeling and development of ERAMS (equipment reliability) test plan
  • Develops methods and parameters and/or project proposals that demonstrate/validate performance of the designs.
  • Work with high tech Optics/PCB suppliers to define/lock the manufacturing process (PQP)
  • Ability to create a reliability growth models that shows how we can/will build up the reliability of the system.
  • You will be asked to present where we are on the reliability growth curve at any point in time
  • May be asked to coach, mentor and/or conduct training for targeted organizations on quality & reliability process

Key Competencies

  • Prefer Knowledge and Experience in LEDs, Lasers, PCB, and Board Assembly and other Electronics Assembly
  • Knowledge, Experience in Optics and software is a plus
  • Prefer Experience and Knowledge in Lithography and optical metrology as related to the Semiconductor Industry
  • Strong knowledge of Reliability Concepts
  • Demonstrates depth and breadth of expertise in mechanical/systems engineering, mechanisms and components qualification, manufacturing and failure analysis, DFR, electro-mechanical components.
  • Technically astute, analytical, data and detail oriented.
  • Self-driven, passionate, results oriented, high-energy, hands-on, with broad knowledge of product development, manufacturing quality and reliability methods.
  • Strong team and interpersonal skills, with ability to effectively influence and lead others to find and implement solutions to complex quality and reliability problems.

  • Demonstrates expanded conceptual knowledge in own discipline and broadens capabilities
  • Understands key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work

  • Explains complex information to others in in logical sequence with focus on intent.

  • May be asked to travel to supplier or customer sites in the USA, Europe and Asia as required
  • Experience in use of AI tools to drive job efficiency and demonstration of development/proliferation of AI tools across company to improve productivity and operational efficiency is a big plus

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Reliability, or any related field.
  • Preferred:  5+ Years of Experience in Q&R Engineering role, or equivalent
  • Semiconductor equipment and metrology experience is a plus

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
