We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Product and Production Support group. In this role, you will play a critical part in sustaining and improving our high-reliability process gas chromatography analyzers used in demanding industrial and hazardous environments. You will bridge product design, manufacturing, and field performance to ensure our instruments meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and optimization of manufacturing processes for gas chromatography systems and subassemblies.
- Design and implement assembly fixtures, test fixtures, and tooling to improve efficiency, repeatability, and quality.
- Perform failure analysis on production and field failures, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.
- Document and submit change requests (CRs) to maintain and update standardized product drawings.
- Occasionally perform CAD modeling and drafting work to support fixture design and drawing updates.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, R&D, and Field Service teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong experience in the design of small electronic assemblies and mechanical packaging.
- Demonstrated knowledge of analytical measurement sensors, detectors, and systems (gas chromatography or similar analytical instrumentation preferred).
- Working knowledge of Hazardous Area Certification requirements (ATEX, IECEx, NEC, etc.) and design practices for explosive atmospheres.
- Proven root cause analysis experience (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA).
- Exceptional attention to detail, especially with documentation and configuration control of standard products.
- Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks or similar).
Education & Experience:
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering + 10 years of relevant manufacturing / production support experience.
Alternative:
- Associate of Science degree in an engineering discipline + 15 years of progressive relevant experience, with clear demonstration of maintaining standard product documentation and configuration control.
Desired:
- Prior military service with technical/maintenance background (highly valued).
