The Product Owner is a member of the Agile Team responsible for defining user stories and prioritizing the team backlog to streamline the execution of priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of features or components.
This role will partner closely with the Product Management Team to ensure alignment with strategy as well as the development team on feasibility and execution of the solution. The Product Owner plays an integral role in maximizing the value produced by a development team and ensuring stories meet users' needs. This role has additional relationships and responsibilities outside the local team, including working with Clients, Business Owners, Architecture, UX and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Leads the development team, ensuring that they are working on the most important thing at all time. Be the bridge between Product Management and Product Development - translate business and customer requirements into technical requirements that can be provided to, and understood by, the development team.
- Manages and directs team priorities and keeps engineering team fed with high value work - generate, prioritize, and maintain backlog to meet business commitments and timelines, balancing roadmap items and internal engineering activities.
- Ability to be routinely meet with sprint team members and at any time explain, refine, and discuss epics/stories/tasks, as well as be available for acceptance meetings.
- Write and refine user stories with the development team, including defining the acceptance criteria, and working with team to size stories.
- Collaborate with Architects, UX, other Product Owners, Product Managers, and Stakeholders to define and execute product vision, coordinate dependencies, and optimize program execution.
- Calculate, understand, and justify team's metrics, velocity, and capacity plan.
- Champion and advocate for customer needs with a quality focus while in the pursuit of all of the above.
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- 5+ years of Product Owner or Business Analyst experience directly working with software engineering teams to deliver application components and features.
- 5+ years of experience in insurance, financial or similar complex domain experience.
- Previous experience with Jira and/or Confluence strong pluses.
- Thorough understanding of multiple SDLC methodologies, with an emphasis on Agile and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
- Strong understanding and experience with customer centricity and UX lead design.
- Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills, detail oriented.
- Creative thinker with vision.
- Experience in identifying and managing risks.
- Proven ability to bring products to market.
