ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for solving problems and guiding technical work from idea to delivery? Orion180 is seeking a Product Owner to join our dynamic, fast-growing team. In this role, you will become the subject-matter expert (SME) for a specific value stream, own the team backlog, and ensure that our development teams have clear, actionable requirements. Your work will directly impact the quality, efficiency, and success of our products.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Own the Backlog: Maintain and prioritize the team backlog in Microsoft Azure DevOps. Ensure stories are groomed, well-defined, and sequenced by business value.
  • Write User Stories: Develop clear, detailed user stories that map business needs to technical requirements, making it easy for developers to execute.
  • Gather & Document Requirements: Engage with stakeholders to capture requirements and produce comprehensive documentation, including Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and process flows.
  • Collaborate Closely: Work hand-in-hand with development teams, answering business and functional questions as they arise and ensuring work stays aligned with priorities.
  • API Integration Focus: Partner with technical teams to document API mapping and data transformations (value-to-value mappings, conversions, payload expectations).
  • Be the SME: Develop deep knowledge of your assigned value stream to guide priorities, answer questions, and ensure deliverables meet business needs.
  • Provide Transparency: Deliver progress updates, sprint demos, and reports to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Support Quality: Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate requirements and ensure high-quality releases.
  • Continuous Improvement: Attend Product Owner training and pursue certification (if not already held) to sharpen your skills.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent insurance industry or software product experience.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years in Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst (BA/BSA), or similar roles.
    • Hands-on experience writing user stories in Microsoft Azure DevOps or similar agile tools.
    • Demonstrated ability to produce clear and detailed BRDs and process documentation.
    • Familiarity with API integrations, data mapping, and system-to-system conversions.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to dig into processes, ask the right questions, and produce precise requirements.
  • Critical Thinking: Comfortable being challenged on fundamentals (requirements gathering, user stories, BRD writing) and able to clearly explain thought processes.
  • Influence & Communication: Proven ability to engage stakeholders, clarify priorities, and gain alignment.
  • Documentation & Presentation: Excellent written documentation skills and ability to deliver engaging demos.
  • Organization: Exceptional backlog management, prioritization, and time management abilities.
  • Technical Curiosity: Comfortable with learning new systems, APIs, and tools to become the go-to SME.

What We Do

Orion180 is a homeowner’s insurance company built on our 3 pillars of success; Do More, Be More, Give More. Our technology allows us to Do More. While the rest of the insurance space languishes with legacy systems, Orion180 utilizes our innovative proprietary system to quote and bind within minutes. Now with the MY180 mobile app, agents can enjoy full quoting and bonding authority in the palm of their hands. Our culture allows us to Be More; for our insureds, our partner agents, our investors, and ourselves. Our culture of innovation and elevation is the bedrock of operation as we elevate agents to become impact players in their communities, and beyond.

Orion180 challenges each team member, each team leader to Expect More from themselves. We foster a culture of service and excellence that manifests in our 4.8 Google rating, our above industry average for turnaround of claims, our A.M. Best rating, and our Star Outreach Program which is set to donate more than $500,000 to charitable causes in local communities in 2022. We pride ourselves in making people our passion. We make certain that we are the last line of defense for homeowners, and if tragedy ever strikes and help is needed, Orion180 will be there.
