The Role
Own the tracking data product for vessel positional data: define vision, roadmap, and backlog; ensure ingestion, cleaning, normalization, fusion, and user presentation; set and track data-quality metrics; translate stakeholder and customer needs into prioritized user stories; and work closely with engineering and other product owners to deliver reliable vessel positioning.

Description

We're looking for a Product Owner to join our Platform product team, focused on one of the core data sources of vessel positional data that powers our maritime intelligence platform. You'll own the data product that ingests, cleans, fuses, and surfaces tracking data to our users, sitting alongside imagery and RF as a foundational layer of "where vessels are" in our product.

This is a deeply technical, data-heavy product role. You'll need to understand the tracking data source from the ground up — its quirks, gaps, latency characteristics, and signal quality — and work hand-in-hand with engineering to turn raw feeds into a reliable, accurate, and trustworthy product experience. You'll partner closely with adjacent product owners to make sure tracking integrates seamlessly into the broader vessel positioning picture our customers depend on.

What you'll do?

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for the Tracking product — covering data ingestion, normalization, cleaning, fusion, and customer-facing presentation.
  • Develop deep expertise in the tracking data source: provider behavior, sensor characteristics, geographic coverage, refresh rates, accuracy, and known failure modes.
  • Work closely with engineering to define how raw tracking data is processed, fused with AIS and imagery, and exposed to users — making informed trade-offs on data quality vs. coverage vs. latency.
  • Define and track data-quality and product success metrics (coverage, accuracy, freshness, fusion lift, customer adoption) and use them to drive prioritization.
  • Coordinate with other product owners to ensure tracking integrates cleanly into the broader vessel positioning and vessel activities layers.
  • Translate customer feedback, analyst workflows, and internal stakeholder input into clear, prioritized user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Communicate roadmap, progress, data-quality posture, and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders across product, go-to-market, and leadership.
  • Partner with engineering day-to-day — sprint planning, backlog grooming, and trade-off decisions on scope, quality, and timing.
Requirements

Who are you?

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
  • Hands-on experience with geospatial or positional data products (GPS, AIS, location feeds, mapping, geospatial pipelines).
  • Track record owning data products or data platforms — products where the core deliverable is a dataset, feed, or data pipeline rather than a UI surface.
  • Comfort going deep on technical detail: data schemas, ingestion pipelines, data quality metrics, and engineering trade-offs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, especially with technical audiences.
  • Maritime domain experience (shipping, defense, offshore, etc.) — advantage.
