Key Responsibilities

Backlog Ownership & Delivery

  • Own and prioritize the Production Orchestration story-level backlog, translating business needs, operational requirements, technical requirements, and defined features into clear, testable work aligned to value and delivery outcomes.
  • Serve as the domain’s day-to-day decision maker for scope, backlog readiness, and acceptance, keeping delivery focused and moving.

Workflow, Quality & Release Readiness

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the end-to-end post-acceptance production workflow, including integrations, operational handoffs, vendor-supported processes, and delivery-readiness requirements.
  • Identify dependencies, risks, and constraints across systems, teams, and vendors, and uphold clear standards for readiness and quality before release.

Pilot Execution & Continuous Improvement

  • Execute defined pilots and controlled rollouts within the domain, validating readiness and analyzing results to assess value, performance, and operational fit.
  • Translate pilot learnings, operational insights, and stakeholder feedback into backlog priorities, release decisions, and scalable operating practices.

Documentation, Communication & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Maintain concise, durable documentation and release artifacts that support delivery, adoption, transparency, and operational handoff.
  • Communicate progress, risks, decisions, and trade-offs clearly, and represent the Production Orchestration domain effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

 

This role is based in our Columbus, OH office.  A reasonable rate of compensation for this position is between $100,000-$115,000 per year. ACS employees work a hybrid schedule, consisting of working onsite two days per work week, as decided by functional area. The balance of the week is open to working remotely, though employees are always welcome onsite each day if they choose.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in information systems, business, engineering, publishing, or a related field. Skills • Backlog & Delivery Leadership: Structures, prioritizes, and refines clear, testable, outcome-oriented backlog items aligned to business value. • Operational & Domain Fluency: Understands post-acceptance publishing workflows, operational handoffs, vendor-supported processes, and release-readiness needs. Skills • Technical Fluency: Comfortable working with APIs, integrations, event flows, identity/authorization, telemetry, and platform constraints. • Evidence-Based Judgment: Uses analytics, testing, qualitative feedback, and operational signals to assess value, quality, and readiness. Skills • Documentation & Analytical Rigor: Produces clear process and release documentation and interprets workflow, performance, and adoption data to improve outcomes. • Agile / SAFe Execution: Operates effectively in iterative delivery environments, supporting PI cycles and cross-team coordination while keeping teams focused on outcomes. • Communication: Communicates clearly with technical and non-technical audiences and aligns stakeholders around practical decisions and next steps. Preferred Preferred experience in scholarly publishing, workflow orchestration, vendor-supported operations, and platform integrations. Experience working within Agile and/or SAFe delivery environments. SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) or similar Agile certification preferred. Skills Required

  • 8+ years of experience in Product Owner, Business Analyst, or related roles
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in information systems, business, engineering, publishing, or a related field
  • Preferred experience in scholarly publishing, workflow orchestration, vendor-supported operations, and platform integrations
  • Experience working within Agile and/or SAFe delivery environments
  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager or similar Agile certification
